I was woken up in the middle of the night with a sharp pain in my right abdomen. It was radiating from under the rib to ovary area and into my back. I couldn’t get back to sleep it was so bad. I took painkillers but nothing touched it. It was so bad at one point I thought something was seriously wrong. So I’ve been up since 4am. It eventually eased off but is now coming back. Obviously I know nobody can diagnose on here but getting a GP appointment is a fucking laugh. I’d be seen in feb if I was lucky. Absolutely pointless. Putting off going to walk in centre.

Any ideas what these symptoms sound like and what I should be watching out for?

Not a doc but Google gallstone symptoms

BigFatMamaJam · 03/01/2020 08:42

With appendicitis the pain would never have gone away would it? It doesn’t come and go once it starts ...

If it's bad enough to wake you and for painkillers not to touch it, go to a walk-in centre.

Hope it turns it to be nothing.

Gall stones? That is what mine was like. Classic onset is sudden middle of night pain as you turn over. Pain on right hand side under ribs and into back- sometimes across abdomen.
Mine actually turned into pancreatitis when a small stone got stuck in the wrong place- which was excruciating.
Call 111 or go to walk-in or A and E - you may need to go in to the hospital if it is that. It may not be but whatever it is needs sorting out.

It could. Appendices are tricksy things.
It could be diverticulitis?
It could also be an ovarian cyst.

Edwardbear1 · 03/01/2020 08:48

Ovarian torsion
Endo
Appendix
An obstruction
Could be anything 🤷🏼‍♀️

I know someone who suffered (unknowingly) from appendicitis for a couple of years. It was only caught when it turned septic. However, I agree with others that it sounds more like gallstones. Either way, only an actual doctor can really say, so try and make an appointment if you carry on being concerned or if it happens again.

I was thinking ovarian cyst.

As for appendicitis, YES the pain can suddenly go, it happens when your appendix bursts so please get to a walk in centre or a and e.

Will you tell us how you are OP? Did you get some medical advice? Hope you are ok.

Mulledwineinajug · 03/01/2020 23:50

I read your post and thought gallstones.

bettybattenburg · 03/01/2020 23:58

I hope you go to the walk in centre or a and e, it sounds like something that needs seeing ASAP.
