To think I should be able to use favourite tool on Henry

...On Henry?
Gave up on my dyson cylinder, and got a new Henry for Xmas. Dyson has a “dusting wand” that is absolutely 100% brilliant for vacuuming bookshelves and ornaments etc without sucking up the item. Henry doesn’t do a similar attachment and Has a thicker tube than Dyson. I can’t find anything to let me attach the wand to Henry. Grrrr.

Aibu to think that there should be standard sizes for vacuum tools? it’s a complete waste of time and stuff going back to landfill!!

Why landfill

Sell it on eBay or post in on gumtree/cheapcycle for free

Have you tried duck tape?

ePurSiMuove · 02/01/2020 16:16

I’d probably do that if there is a market for used vacuum tools? I’d rather keep it and use it myself. It’s the wider issue though of things being incompatible and therefore redundant that’s annoying me.

Ooh er

I agree OP
Should be standard sizes like taps and plumbing so heads can be swapped

Do you expect different manufacturers to liaise around product design/sizing?

ePurSiMuove · 02/01/2020 16:18

Duck tape could work, but I need to change attachments regularly, eg change to crevice tool then the floor tool.

I have 2 universal adaptors for which I have no use. I will happily send you one. Just PM me!

Bricks are a standard size I’ve recently found out. Lots of things are standardised in size and quantity. So yes, there could be an industry standard. I think even dysons tools aren’t compatible across the ranges.

iago how kind! I didn’t realise there was an adapter you could get.

talbotAMan. That looks great, it looks like it’s an adapter for between dyson bits. I’ll actually get that it similar because I’ve got two dyson sticks that can’t share tools.

Unfortunately the UK sees this sort of rational regulation as interference by foreigners!

If it was me (and the Dyson's scrap) I'd cut the original Dyson hose (the bit fixed permanently to it) at the base so you've got a short length of hose with a Dyson 'end' (with the catch) on it and the 'cut' end at the other end.

Connect the cut end to the Henry tube and you can still use the Dyson end to change the attachments.

Connect the cut end to an adaptor or something instead and you'll still be ablt to change back to Henry tools.

Actually that's a perfect example of no regulation and no interference by foreigners. Bricks are only a standard size by convention, not regulation, and different countries have their own 'standard' brick sizes.
