AIBU to ask for money back?

Long story short is that at around 1am I remembered I needed to pay a catalogue bill, so I logged in to do so. I was paying more than the minimum amount so I clicked "other" to enter the figure.

I thought I had put £35.00 but in fact I later realised it was £350 I had entered.

I have been looking online for hours trying to find what course of action may be open to me, I acknowledge it was my mistake but it was an accident and I really did not intend to pay such a large amount.

Can anyone please offer some advice? AIBU to ask for it back, can I even ask for it to be returned?

I would phone them first thing and ask if it is possible to have a reimbursement. It's a straightforward mistake. Of course yanbu to try, at least!

How much do you owe?

MimiCaeger · 02/01/2020 05:31

If it’s less than 350 then surely they will reimburse

If you have paid more than you owe in total then they might refund you but if you owe more than that then I don't think you can do anything.

I don't know. I accidentally paid £350 off my credit card bill leaving me with a credit of £300! I really needed the cash but just ended up leaving it and spending card.

I'd try phoning them.

How much do you owe?
I think it would be totally reasonable to call and ask.
I did this same thing but as a mortgage overpayment. I meant to pay in a small amount and paid in 10x as much. In the end I left it in there. But I resolved not to do banking late at night ever again!

I think if you owe more than £350 you'll just need to suck it up.

I didn't know catalogues still existed!
Sorry, not the point, I know
Call them, and try, but not sure you can get it back if you owe that much
