Think I have to leave bar work at 22

Been working as a bartender for 4 years. It’s my favourite job I’ve ever had and I can’t imagine enjoying something else. But I have back pain, shoulder pain, thumb pain from shaking cocktails, etc. I think I need to leave but feel pathetic leaving a job because of injuries like this at 22, and I don’t know where to go next or if these things are fixable. Gp prescribed tramadol for the back pains but it makes me feel fluey so I don’t take it often

Try a physiotherapist and work on your core strength and supporting muscles. A GP prescribing Tramadol to a 22yr old without physio first is absolutely bonkers. Tramadol FFS.

Chiropractor would probably be able to sort out your back & shoulder pain

Normally pay privately

The ones I have used had a table with mechanical rollers. Then they manually clicked my body into place. Sometimes takes a few sessions to cure the pain, depends on your injury

Swimming is also good all body exercise

Do you have prior or underlying health issues? I'd be asking your GP for a good check over personally, you shouldn't be in that much pain / have injuries like that after four years in the industry. Maybe every now and again but not constantly.

I’ve known bartenders in there 60’s so it’s for you or it’s not. See a doctor
