Stopping in on NYE and want to watch a good film with dh (how times have changed)! Really like films that are uplifting and inspirational. What do you like?

Watching with interest. I actually quite like the film New Year's Eve tbh.

GinDaddy · 31/12/2019 10:52

Hereditary

FirmlyRooted · 31/12/2019 10:54

Hidden Figures, have seen it about 5 times

longtompot · 31/12/2019 10:56

I really enjoyed Yesterday. It's good fun, and had a positive feel.

FirmlyRooted · 31/12/2019 10:57

Hidden Figures is based on a true story and hugely inspirational. It's about a brilliant mathematician who finds herself at NASA but as she is female and black and it's the 1950s it's incredibly difficult. Amazing movie.

That one with Tom Hanks about the pilot doing a crash landing on the Hudson River is very good. True story. Can't think of it's name.

However, my feel good, go to is It's Complicated with Meryl Streep and Steve Martin.

I watched Rory’s Way the other day and really enjoyed it.

Jemima89 · 31/12/2019 11:08

Lion is very uplifting and emotional, also based on a true story.

Lippy1234 · 31/12/2019 11:08

Loved Green Book and Three Billboards too.

I've got First Man and Green Book lined up for this evening. I saw Green Book on a flight and loved it and want to see it again. 2 for £8 at Tesco.

BarchesterTowers · 31/12/2019 11:36

Hidden figures is brilliant. dH says RGB was v good.

Liked green book.

Lion is sad but uplifting.

Sculls excellent choice.

BarchesterTowers · 31/12/2019 11:37

Not sure 3 billboards, while excellent, is uplifting!

Lippy1234 · 31/12/2019 11:49

I think it’s very personal, I came out of the cinema after watching Three Billboards feeling amazing because I enjoyed the film so much. My three DC and I spent the whole journey home discussing it.

Lippy1234 · 31/12/2019 11:50

Eddie the Eagle! Honestly, it’s great. We were sceptical but had the biggest smiles on our faces by the end.
