Have posted in Children's Health too but posting here for traffic as have Dr appointment in couple of hours. Not looking for a diagnosis but thoughts on what to run past the Dr would be really helpful.
DS8 has learning difficulties so can't tell us what is wrong, where it might hurt etc.
Long story cut short.
-Standard low level cough cold for a few weeks.
-Christmas Day off food and subdued
-Boxing Day lethargic and looking to sleep, started throwing up mid morning and didn't stop
-due to LDs and previous medical history have to be bit more cautious regarding source of illnesses so took to OOH and ended up with admission for observation and to ensure didn't become dehydrated.
-tolerates sips of water next day so discharged late afternoon
-has continued to be on/off sick but mostly when tries to eat or drink and then coughing at night.
-cough is now dry cough was wet when part of his cold
- sleeping continually (18-20 hours a day) although on iPad when awake.
He was given a coverall antiobiotic in hospital but threw up each dose.
I'm thinking everything points to something throat related as sick when coughs and he coughs after eating or drinking anything. (When I say eating he's had half a yoghurt and mouthful of porridge today, porridge stayed down, yoghurt straight back up)
Any other ideas? What's doing the rounds at the moment? I know viruses take a while but there seems to be very little recovery happening and his weight loss is noticeable on an already very skinny, bordering underweight, frame.
Dr is normally great but I need to help get DS well so don't want to miss anything.
