Last night my 19 month old ds got rushed to hospital with high fever, unresponsive and vomiting, dh called me and I left work ASAP and my df and dB ran me to the hospital, now my brothers extremely pissed off at me and refusing to talk to me because he misses me and godforbid he won't see me until after New Year and I refused to let them come and visit once we got home (10pm ish) bare in mind we hadn't had dinner, ds was really poorly and my first priority was getting my son home for food and into bed.

Your brother is a twat waffle

Gossipjunkie22 · 28/12/2019 15:39

I thought so too! You'd think he'd be more concerned about his nephew

What Leannb said ..... ^ Is he an adult? (I’m guessing so as he ran you to the hospital).

Gossipjunkie22 · 28/12/2019 15:43

Yeah he's late 30s

Must say I love the saying twat waffle 😂 stealing it from now on

Why can't he come round between now and new year?

OlaEliza · 28/12/2019 15:54

He does sound like a spoiled arse though.

Gossipjunkie22 · 28/12/2019 15:56

Because he doesn't stay up this end, it was by chance they were up here for something and I phoned them to come get me as had no other way of getting to hospital, we both work and have found it hard to fit in visits between xmas and New year but surely last night wasn't the time or place for a catch up

So he isn't talking to you because he misses you! That's what I call a contradiction!
Ofcourse he is in the wrong.

MRex · 28/12/2019 16:07

He's being a knob if you're sure you have the whole thing correct? Were they concerned about DS and not getting any update from you? Anyway, tell him you miss him too but are still worried about DS and he'll probably settle down.

Gossipjunkie22 · 28/12/2019 16:08

I don't get it at all! He said to me on the phone its me he misses and not my ds, I couldn't believe it! I'd much rather he focused his time on my son tbh... Of course I miss him too but if he can't make time for my son then he can't expect me to drop everything and make time for him.

OP posts:
Gossipjunkie22 · 28/12/2019 16:09

@MRex I was giving them an update as soon as I knew anything myself

BoxtheRight · 28/12/2019 16:23

Were you meant to be seeing your brother anyway last night?

Gossipjunkie22 · 28/12/2019 16:33

Yeah I was but because my ds got taken into hospital our plans had changed.

OP posts:
StillCoughingandLaughing · 28/12/2019 17:32

He sounds crackers. My first reaction in that same situation would be worry for my nephew!

Gossipjunkie22 · 28/12/2019 17:39

Same here! Good to know I'm not the only one who thinks he's an utter knob

OP posts:
WheresTheEvidence · 28/12/2019 18:19

While hes unreasonable for wanting to see you when you had all that going on.

He is not unreasonable in missing you and not "focusing his time" on his nephew.

Gossipjunkie22 · 28/12/2019 18:24

I didn't say he was unreasonable for missing me, I said he was being unreasonable for expecting me to drop everything just to see him considering how much I had going on

wht is your father's attitude in all this.
does your brother have learning difficulties, mental health problems, any other illness/ disabilities.
either way, just be civil, and reasonable. it's up to him if he is not. don't get enmeshed in pointless illogicalities, emotional guilt-fest attempts.
you are first and foremost a parent to a v young child=vulnerable, who has been worryingly taken ill, = even more vulnerable.
save your energy and attention where it is needed.

Gossipjunkie22 · 28/12/2019 18:35

My df is almost 70 not the greatest of health and doesn't really pay much attention tbh I spoke to him and he says he understands why we didn't invite them up once we got home. My brother has no learning difficulties or mental issues altho he is known to be a little selfish but this is beyond little! He's actually refusing to speak to me which imo is extremely petty.. I haven't even had a message to ask how the wee one is today.. Its almost like he's not interested
