I hate presents that confer an obligation on me before it’s usable ( in your case to put the photos in). My dsis is guilty of this- buys the kids things like paintings on rolled canvases on her travels, hands them over and then says ‘mummy can get them framed for you’ [silent fume] 😆

Hmm i think it's subjective, surely all his done is print your own photos you already had and then buy a photo album, but not bother with even putting them in it 
. If it's the only gift it is underwhelming.
Might have been sweet if he'd made the effort with the album or had a photo book printed even, if you're into that (I wouldn't be but would appreciate the sentiment)
