To have folded his clothes

Background is that I work in an all male residential home, I'm the only female working there (I'm perfectly safe) there's a rota for residents to use the washer, Monday is staff day, I wash house things etc
The manager lives in.
On Monday I was in alone since they were all out for a Christmas meal.

I went to put a load in the dryer and it was full, I recognised the managers clothes so I took them out, folded them and left them in his basket, which I gave him when he got back. He thanked me.

Another staff member thinks folding a man's clothes was weird. There was underwear, I didnt fold that, just put it in the basket.

Should I have just dumped it all in?

I have to be careful of my actions sometimes, I have had unwanted attention that the manager has dealt with quickly which made it clear to the others I wouldn't tolerate that.

Folding his clothes was a nice thing to do. I would have appreciated that, if I were him - and he's thanked you so clearly he was happy too.
