To eat citrus peels

And surely I can’t be the only one who does it 😂

If I eat an orange I will eat the peel afterwards, if there is a slice of lemon/lime in a drink then I’ll eat that with the peel on.

My friends think I’m mad as a box of frogs but I like the way it tastes? AIBU Blush

Ugh, that’s made me feel a bit ill. The taste! The texture!

PettyContractor · 24/12/2019 15:00

My DD only eats the peels. She gives the fruit to me.

Sexnotgender · 24/12/2019 15:01

My husband eats whole wedges of lemons and limes skin and all.

MereDintofPandiculation · 24/12/2019 15:35

You probably shouldn't - they have wax and possibly chemicals on - that's why you can buy wax-free oranges for marmalade, making crystallised orange peel etc. But I do it too.

FadedRed · 24/12/2019 15:36

I do the same.

IHaveBrilloHair · 24/12/2019 15:38

I used to like lemon rind as a child, but not now.

DonPablo · 24/12/2019 15:38

The wax would put me off, but I do use unwacxed lemon and grate them, so it's no different really!

Do you eat kiwi skin? I do and my whole family thinks I'm a wrong'un.

I eat the pith (white piece) from orange skin

Candlebarbara · 24/12/2019 15:39

Yes, and apple cores. Orange peel is my favourite part of the fruit!

PrettyShiningPeople · 24/12/2019 15:40

YABU! They are treated with anti-fungals. Also one of the worst fruits for being contaminated with pesticides but it’s ok as long as you don’t eat the skin!

Picklypickles · 24/12/2019 15:40

The texture must be horrible! I do grate the zest into things I'm cooking/baking but couldn't imagine actually chomping through that thick white bit!

CatintheFireplace · 24/12/2019 15:41

You are unreasonable and grim (you did ask).

Please at least buy organic unwaxed!

TobyTanker · 24/12/2019 15:56

We live in Spain and have a lemon tree in the garden. So definitely organic and no wax. DD picks one and eats it whole like people eat apples.
