Christmas lurgy

AIBU to hope for one Christmas where my family are NOT struck down by some bug or other?

For the last few years it seems as if our Christmas household has turned into a field hospital. Last year for Christmas dinner I managed a mouthful of carrot. That was it. DH ended up eating a wonderful platter, all on his own. kids all variously sick or they had quit the plague pit for more robust family and friends. The year before, a round of flu' started the week before and spread through us all over Christmas week,. We had one good year but during that Christmas the dog took a hit for us all and frankly we would all rather have been sick ourselves than scapegoated him. But it always seems to be something. AM I ALONE?

I'm sick this year, it's so much more horrible at christmas time.

I've got the inlaws for dinner later. Hubby offered to cancel but I'd rather get it out of the way!!

I'm dreading feeling rotten tomorrow an spoiling it for the kids.

I feel the same, although it is me who has had the lurgy in the run-up to this Christmas. A severe cold and chest infection that I just can't quite shake the tail end of off. It is better though, and I will be fine. Just hoping nobody else gets it, but so far so good.

Last Christmas was OK for us, but the year before (2017) DH had the lurgy, and also the cat became very ill and had to be put to sleep. That was on Christmas morning 2017.

I had pneumonia last year but struggled through the day, spent most of Boxing Day at hospital.

I'm alright this year; but DP has a sore throat and a bit of a temperature; bless him.
