To be worrying about this

About midnight I was downstairs when there was a weird rushing noise outside then a thud like something had hit the window. The dog barked at it. It wasn't windy that much. It's on my mind because I have anxiety. Any ideas ?

Was it something falling off the roof? Midnight was a long time ago, nothing has happened since so dont worry. Just check doors and windows are secure.

Has anyone locally got outside Christmas decorations? Or did you put a wreath up etc? They could have been blown about.

As said, it was a one off and there's nothing to worry about.

WinterRose92 · 24/12/2019 03:39

Maybe a bird? I wouldn’t worry too much about it now, like previous poster said, that was ages ago and nothing has happened. Try and get some sleep if you can x

anxioussue · 24/12/2019 03:40

Could have been the roof, will check in the morning but it'd be odd to hit the back window because of the way the house is. No wreath or decorations, no. Thanks.

A disoriented bat? Bird. Nighttime so seems unlikely but every time we have heard a large bang/thud on a window or glass sliding door it’s been a bird who for some reason (????) has flown full pelt into it and broken its neck so we find it at the bottom of the window. We have even had 2 smashed/cracked windows due to this. Have not had a bat do this, not even sure if they fly as fast as birds but we have a lot flying around at night.

Shahlalala · 24/12/2019 04:11

Bats usually hibernate for winter. Could have

Shahlalala · 24/12/2019 04:12

Done it again... could have been a bird perhaps? I would try to not stress, it could have been anything.

Could you see from an upstairs window if something has fallen outside?

youwouldthink · 24/12/2019 04:14

I live by the sea. . Couple of years back about 6am heard a massive thud on the front window. Looked and couldn't see anything.
Heart racing went out and there below the window was a starfish!!! A gull must have dropped it as flying over us.
Can be the oddest things sometimes!

crustycrab · 24/12/2019 04:15

Cat on the windowsill

puds11 · 24/12/2019 04:22

Sorry, ‘tis our summer here. And very hot atmGrin.

anxioussue · 24/12/2019 08:08

Santa 😀 sorry kids no Christmas he's comatose in our garden
Bats and birds wouldn't explain the rushing noise we heard unless they were supersonic
Will look out the window in a bit

You've still not looked?! Why?

anxioussue · 24/12/2019 13:45

I was warm in bed! Ok, I didn't want to know. I've looked though and there is no sign of anything odd.
