To expect DPD to do more than investigate?

I ordered a parcel from virgin experience days for afternoon tea x2, with next day delivery it came to £114.99.
I contacted virgin today as I still hadn't recieved my parcel and they said it was signed for under my name on Saturday at 5.11pm.
I rang DPD and they said because the gps and signed for name was my own, they would have to investigate which takes 3-5 working days? No apology..... Nothing.
I 100% didn't sign for the parcel, I've checked every part of my garden, outhouse, neighbours etc. I was in at the time it was signed for and nobody else except my 2 year old lives at my address.
I am so angry!
So not only am I £115 out of pocket, I have to go to town tomorrow to buy Christmas presents for both sets of grandparents and battle with dpd and virgin for a refund/get my actual parcel!!

I believe your contract is with Virgin. You have not received the package so they are still under obligation to you.
They hired the services of DPD so it's on them to press the matter with them.

How did you pay? Pulling your payment back will help jog their memory

Acidrain · 23/12/2019 16:34

I paid via debit card unfortunately not PayPal or credit card.
I have tried calling virgin back since speaking to DPD and there is no answer now, it's just constantly saying line busy, so they have probably closed for Christmas now.

DPD are hopeless. I order a birthday present from John Lewis to be delivered to France (JL were the only UK company who would deliver this to France). Three weeks later it still hadn’t arrived. JL said that DPD international had delivered it to a location in France. DPD international wouldn’t speak to me since their contract was with DPD. Eventually they told me that it was in a post office in the xxxx postcode area (no idea which one), but may have been sent back since it had been there for 3 weeks. The recipient swears she didn’t get a “sorry we missed you” card. She tramped round POs the next day, and eventually found it in the 3rd one she tried - it was actually in the bag to be sent back to the UK that day!

If you paid with Visa debit card you can still do a charge back via your bank. It doesn't have to be a credit card.

I'll ring the bank and see what they say! I'm hoping the parcel just turns up somehow tonight so I don't have to buy more Xmas presents tomorrow!
