Are we being too ambitious?

My parents will have been married 30 years in August. They have been amazing parents and fantastic grandparents. We want to show our gratitude and appreciation to them. They are very family orientated.

We are looking at a weekend away for them where we are all there as a surprise. 7 siblings and partners and children.
We have found somewhere where we would all be together, Mum, dad and youngest sibling in one cottage and then 6 others for siblings and families.

Lots of local walks, fantastic local pub where we could hire the small function room for a private dinner.

They would love it and I feel we can pull it off. Are we being too ambitious? X

What’s ambitious about it? Sounds a lovely gift🎄

Sounds great. Do it!

Why is it too ambitious if you've found somewhere and everyone can make it? Odd

Greggers2017 · 23/12/2019 07:54

I spoke to mums best friend and she thinks it s going to be too much work and take too much to organise with their being so many people involved.

So long as everyone can afford it and are available then I don’t see why not.

The plan is to all pay for ourselves and families and a small extra amount each to cover parents accommodation. It's only for 2 nights and out of season so not very expensive.

I don't think that's too ambitious, just book it and make sure everyone pays their bit. Do a supermarket delivery to arrive when you do or a local click and collect. Either pay into a kitty to cover this or get everyone to split it!

My friends and I have done numerous weekends away in houses like this and managed it with around 16 people all separately paying etc, all worked fine! You will love it - enjoy. Don't listen to your mums friend!
