To not like it when threads just vanish

With no warning on the thread that they are going to be deleted, no red deleted thread thing in the topic list, and no sign of them in “I’m on” if it’s a thread you have posted on?

OP posts:
tillytoodles1 · 21/12/2019 12:08

I was reading one the other day about a woman whp's husband was seriously ill and now it's just disappeared.

SmuggyMcKnobson · 21/12/2019 12:25

Because that was a troll and not true.

SerenDippitty · 21/12/2019 12:27

So why not say that? And how did you know?

OP posts:
Squigean · 21/12/2019 12:30

Do you post on them? You see a deletion message (in place of the thread in "I'm on" threads. You won't get one from just reading it.

SerenDippitty · 21/12/2019 12:32

I had posted on this one. Usually in that case it still shows on the I'm on threads but with no posts.

OP posts:
MrsAJ27 · 21/12/2019 12:35

Yes it is so bloody irritating...no explanation given when you have invested time

Lockheart · 21/12/2019 12:39

It's just a forum thread. They may be deleted for many reasons and you're not owed an explanation.

If you need closure watch a soap opera instead. And don't "invest time" Hmm which you don't want to lose.

Squigean · 21/12/2019 13:50

Hmmm, not sure about the investing time bit, but there's usual a deletion message. Don't know how long the deletion message is there for mind you. I don't think it's that long. Twenty-four hours maybe?

If you haven't posted on the thread it'll be gone because, well because it's been deleted Smile

SmuggyMcKnobson · 21/12/2019 14:05

TBF I don't 100% know and apologies if I am wrong, but that specific thread has been mentoned several times on a number of threads over the last couple of days. I wasn't "on it" or "watching" it so haven't seen any deletion messages myself.

Pfefferkuchen · 21/12/2019 14:19

it's usually when the OP dislike the answers, contact MNHQ and get the thread deleted. You can see it coming when it's not going the way they want.

that and trolls.

MistyCloud · 21/12/2019 14:24

Yeah it is annoying.

'The OP was afraid this may be 'outing' for her' The OP had real-life concerns' and 'The OP has asked for the thread to be taken down owing to too much personal information being posted by her' are 3 typical responses.

In 3 out of 4 instances, there is NOTHING that would identify the OP in the thread.

So annoying. And yeah, it IS when the OP is not getting the responses she wants.

MistyCloud · 21/12/2019 14:26

I mean, 3 typical deletion messages (not responses.)

PlomBear · 21/12/2019 14:27

Most of them are made up. Perhaps go for a nice walk or read a good book instead?

MistyCloud · 21/12/2019 14:29

@PlomBear

Most of them are made up. Perhaps go for a nice walk or read a good book instead?

LOL the irony.

PlomBear · 21/12/2019 14:30

MistyCloud - you do know that most posts on here are made up?

I fail to see the irony.

OceanSunFish · 21/12/2019 14:30

It's annoying but it's just one of those things really. Even if the thread doesn't get deleted, you sometimes don't find out the outcome (eg if the OP stops posting).

MistyCloud · 21/12/2019 14:32

@PlomBear

Perhaps go for a nice walk or read a good book instead?

THAT was the irony in your post.

The snarky remark about telling posters to go for a nice walk or read a good book instead of being on here posting....

And yet here YOU are.......... posting on here.

As I said, LOL @ the irony! Wink

PlomBear · 21/12/2019 14:34

MistyCloud - I’ve just been out for a walk in the rain and I’m just about to download a new thriller on my Kindle.

Rather than being emotionally involved in a forum that I occasionally browse to waste some time.

MistyCloud · 21/12/2019 14:44

@PlomBear

OK, now you have my attention. What's the thriller??? (I do like a good thriller!)
