WIBU to call 111 for this

I have a neurological condition that causes.. well, nuerolical strokes. This makes me fall a lot.

I went to the gp today because of an immense pain in my neck and shoulders (I’m not a cryer, but I just sobbed at her). She examined me and pressed on my neck and shoulders - just doing her job!

She was lovely, went above and beyond making several referrals for me. However, where she’s pressed is now so painful. I’ve taken severadol (morphine based), have a full back and neck heat pad on and I can’t stand the pain anymore. It’s been 7 hours since I saw the dr.

I don’t want to be a drama queen or a burden. I don’t even know why I’m posting here, a second opinion I guess? I also live alone with 3 children, I’d feel so guilty dragging them out of bed if we had to go to see someone just for me!

There's no harm in ringing them.

This is exactly what 111 if for, you are not wasting anyone’s time. Please call and see what the doctor says.

Shouldbedoing · 19/12/2019 22:42

I think you should if your pain is at that level

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 19/12/2019 22:43

Not unreasonable to call 111 at all! I'm a medical student and would definitely feel that this was an appropriate call with the level of pain that you are in and your past history.

PointlessUsername · 19/12/2019 22:43

Yes call them. You cannot stay in pain all night esp with 3 dc Flowers

ThreeAnkleBiters · 19/12/2019 22:43

Of course ring 111 that's the whole point of the service. I hope you feel better OP.

BlackeyedSusan · 19/12/2019 22:43

Call them .

Good luck.

MsJaneAusten · 19/12/2019 22:48

If you were in my area and called 111 for that you’d probably be seeing an OOH doctor within the next hour. Definitely call.

HanginWithMyGnomies · 19/12/2019 22:49

Thank you for the reassurance and well wishes. I will call them now.

Call them, that's what they are there for. Be prepared though they will probably send an ambulance

compulsiveliar2019 · 19/12/2019 23:02

As a former 111 Call handler I'd definitely say call. Your never wasting our time if your genuinely worried about your health.

Had to pop back and say a massive thank you!! It is bacterial meningitis.. it could have got very nasty if I would have left it untreated. 💐
