there’s a new version of Worzel Gummidge on telly this christmas.

Worzel bloody Gummidge. i was terrified of it as a child - it was all so sinister

swapping his heads round, the Crow Man, horrifying Aunt Sally. the whole lot gave me nightmares.

My sister was like you and I always thought she was a weirdo 😀. Not scary in the slightest, I loved it and I bet Mackenzie Crook(?) will do a great job.

The Christmas special where Worzel and Billy Connolly's character kept knocking each other's heads off is legendary in our family. I think you'll view it differently as an adult.

I’m definitely looking forward to this.
In fact it’s probably the only thing I’ll make an effort to watch this Christmas.
I think they’ve got the cast right, timing is right - what’s not to look forward to?
I suppose the original could be seen as a bit creepy for a child at the time, but a modern version will (hopefully) be superb.

I loved Worzel when I was a child! Jon Pertwee and Una Stubbs. Brilliant children’s tv!

Hope the remake is a good one, Mackenzie Crook is a good actor.

I was terrified too! Particularly the head swapping. I got all triggered when they were talking about it on the radio this morning.

There was a thread about this earlier, yanbu. He gave me nightmares as a child, unfortunately H introduced the children to him and they love it and the books. I have to leave the room before it is switched on.

I loved it. Wasn't Barbara Windsor in it too. I think she played a rival to Aunt Sally for Worzel's affection. She was a masthead on a ship I think.

Catweazle was proper scary, Worzel was benign.

Gave me the absolute creeps!

It was dreadful first time round and won't be any better this time.

I absolutely adored the original series but this one looks fucking terrified. I'll admit that Worzel's handsome head wasn't my favourite but I don't think I could even watch this one!
