To contact antenatal

To rearrange my 12 week scan?

I don't want to tell work I'm pregnant yet and I have no more annual leave to take. Their policies about making time up and pay are different for antenatal appointments and regular medical appointments.

It's in January when I'm back work. I'll be 14 weeks almost.

If they do it a week earlier, I will be off work due to Christmas break.

If they do it early they sometimes don’t get the chance to carry out all the necessary checks and measurements so I doubt they’ll do it earlier than 12 weeks especially if you’ve already got a appointment.

takeoutwa · 18/12/2019 14:50

It wouldn't be early though. I would still be 13 weeks..

Well you can try and rearrange it. But bear in mind they may have no free appointment slots

bookgirl1982 · 18/12/2019 14:53

To have the combined test you need to be earlier than 13+6 so earlier would be better anyway.

I know that when I needed to rearrange my 20 week scan because of work commitments, I had to visit another hospital in the same trust to get it done because the department didn’t have much flexibility. There’s no harm in calling to ask.

DryShampooholic · 18/12/2019 14:56

I managed to rearrange my 12 week scan as we wanted it a few days early so we could tell family who were staying with us. Our hospital were fine with it

PremierNaps · 18/12/2019 15:33

Worth a shot OP. They might not have any appointments left, however doesn't hurt to ask.

takeoutwa · 18/12/2019 15:59

Sadly no earlier appointments anyway!

At least I tried I guess

You only have to tell HR or equivalent. Your boss doesn't have to know if that's your preference.
