To ask about willys?

I've looked in health and no subsection (unlike woman's heath) so I need help and apologize if this is not true aibu.

My (now estranged) exdh told me when he was a teenager his willy out grew his case. He was playing football and suddenly he felt wetness, came home and his willy was covered in blood. Since then he said he looked circumcised.
I have only been with my xdh so do not know the difference. However my son 13 has said his bits feel tight and now I feel we should see a doctor, unless this is normal? I am nc with xdh and have no male relatives to ask. MN can look at my long posting history and see that I've nc but been around for ages.

Take him to the doctor. The foreskin can be too tight and require treatment to stretch it or sometimes circumcision itself is recommended.

topcat2014 · 17/12/2019 22:03

Seems about they right age for development in that area. Erections begin to occur spontaneously too. The foreskin will begin to retract too. This could lead to a little bleeding the first time. However if this continues seek medical advice

keo8260 · 17/12/2019 22:08

he should see a doctor to check his foreskin, if it is found to be too tight it will need treatment and he can be referred for surgery which may be circumcision but they may also be able to do a procedure where they detach part of the foreskin and stitch the incision the opposite direction which gives the foreskin a bit more room. he should not try to fully retract the foreskin himself if it feels tight.

Dottysmum18 · 17/12/2019 22:10

my partner tore the skin attaching his foreskin to his penis during sex that was a horrible moment.
it is definitely possible to have a tight foreskin and he may have noticed due to his age and masterbation . have a frank discussion and ask if he is able to retract fully comfortably as he should at his age . best to get it sorted before he begins to think about having sex as it may be very painful if not sorted

his willy out grew his case.

His “case”?!? What a strange turn of phrase: a penis is not a sausage.

delineateddelinquent · 17/12/2019 22:27

@recrudescence

Uch leave the OP alone! She’s described it in her own way. No harm done.

gamerchick · 17/12/2019 22:28

Take him to the GP OP.

MarilynMorose · 17/12/2019 22:30

I’ve heard of people who have had to have an overly tight foreskin operated on during the teen years - maybe it’s a trait that can be passed parent to child but your partner’s injury negated his need for an op?

I’d send him to the GP to check things over just to be on the safe side.

sunshineandshowers21 · 17/12/2019 22:31

definitely see a doctor about it. my son had to be circumcised aged 11 because of being too tight. his dad also has to be circumcised because of the same issue so maybe it’s an inherited thing?

I know quite a few adult men who have had to get circumcised for this reason!

Disquieted1 · 17/12/2019 23:13

Circumcision is a last resort nowadays. Stretching and steroid creams will usually do the trick. As others have said, it's one for the GP.

There is a children's health section here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/childrens_health

I'm assuming its the child you are posting about.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 17/12/2019 23:46

Tight foreskins are often hereditary, my son, his father and his grandfather all had this issue.

My partner was circumcised as a result but my son was able to have his corrected with a prepuceplasty.

Speak to your doctor.

Craftycorvid · 17/12/2019 23:48

I love the idea of a penis case (pictures something like a violin case). So much nicer than ‘foreskin’ which always sounds like an insult you’d hurl at someone. Anyhow, there’s a membrane of skin between foreskin and glans called a frenulum (stick your tongue between your top teeth and your upper lip, you have a similar membrane there too). It’s delicate tissue and can tear which bleeds and is painful. Best get it checked out.

BeanTownNancy · 17/12/2019 23:51

Definitely a real thing. Best to see the doctor for proper advice.

VenusTiger · 18/12/2019 00:00

My DH’s brother had to be circumcised at around the age of 12 for the same reasons @Nomansview - you can speak to a doctor (telephone appt) first if you prefer, and then go from there.

Nomansview · 18/12/2019 05:25

Thank you all so much. Sorry about description, it's what exdh said and I've never thought of it being weird.
DS only said about it last night, I will make an appointment thnks.
