Feel slightly embarrassed asking this, but how on earth do I open this crown paint?

Have you had a go at it with a screwdriver??

TeenPlusTwenties · 15/12/2019 09:43

It looks like one where you pull off a plastic ring all around the lid and then bend the lid off.

MrDarcysMa · 15/12/2019 09:44

I’ve used it lately, you have to flip the rim up all the way round then it lifts off

DeborahAnnabelToo · 15/12/2019 09:44

Yes the lid folds up on itself (you can see where on the side of the rim) then it lifts off.

nitgel · 15/12/2019 09:44

Yes you have to pull the tabs first ti open the plastic seal like in bottles of cooking oil etc Grin

MrDarcysMa · 15/12/2019 09:44

So the bit you’ve pulled off just flips up

BeenHereForAges · 15/12/2019 09:45

It looks like either a snap catch on either side that you bend up or you bend the whole rim up along the edges.

openplease · 15/12/2019 09:51

Done! Thanks Grin

I love a happy ending! 😁

openplease · 15/12/2019 10:33

I've just attempted to paint the bathroom ceiling with a roller, never pained in my life before. Why does it look so wrong? Am I doomed? Sad

I think you just need another couple of layers of paint.

Cocolapew · 15/12/2019 10:41

I had that paint and found it very watery, you'll need more coats Smile

openplease · 15/12/2019 10:44

Now I'm thinking I just have used a white primer first.

OP posts:
AnchorDownDeepBreath · 15/12/2019 10:45

Did you prime? We used this to touch up white walls recently and it was weirdly grey without a primer. It too about three coats on top of the primer; too.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 15/12/2019 10:47

What was the ceiling like before you painted it?

openplease · 15/12/2019 10:48

What was the ceiling like before you painted it?

Grey ceiling

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 15/12/2019 10:49

I've just re-painted a white ceiling with Wickes own brand paint and it was pure white first time. No primer needed.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 15/12/2019 10:50

It'll probably take a good few coats to cover the grey then. Unfortunately!

I'd be tempted to get a cheaper own brand to do a few base coats.

notangelinajolie · 15/12/2019 10:51

Sorry, I may bring bad news but If it's the special offer cheap stuff from homebase you will need more than one coat. My DH had to do 3 coats on my mum's ceiling.
DH says stop, count your losses and go and buy the thick special one coat stuff.

happinessischocolate · 15/12/2019 11:15

Did you mix it up first? All the thick paint will be down the bottom Grin

GruciusMalfoy · 15/12/2019 11:22

I was going to ask the same as happiness, you need to give it a good stir before using, and if on top of grey paint it will need a few coats.

MamaJazzHands · 15/12/2019 11:38

I never had good results from a roller when I paint the ceilings always goes patchy no matter how many coats I put on.
Spent a couple of hours painting 22 ft living room ceiling with the roller and good quality paint.....it was shit!
Had to redo it with a brush. I find it better with a brush despite being more time consuming so don’t bother with roller anymore.

rhubarbcrumbles · 15/12/2019 11:39

It needs a really, really good mix up first. Use a paintbrush too, it'll work better and you won't get it every where.

Seeline · 15/12/2019 11:46

A roller works fine - you just have to keep loading it up with paint. They are very good at spreading the paint around, but it can end up too thin.

user1471449295 · 15/12/2019 11:48

I’ve had to use 3 coats of this paint Hmm
Won’t buy it again
