Should the Tories thank Nigel Farage?

He claims that by withdrawing his candidates from those seats that he allowed the conservatives to win a majority (allegedly I mean we don't know the full result yet).

If he had let those candidates run then would we be facing a hung parliament or could the Brexit party have won? I mean that's scary too.

Yes, they should. Thank you Nigel Wine

AnneLovesGilbert · 13/12/2019 00:33

Looks like he took a lot of votes from labour.

PBo83 · 13/12/2019 00:36

I think Nigel was a massive catalyst in triggering the initial referendum which has ultimately led to the Tory (presumed) victory this evening.

So, yes. I think the Tories also have Corbyn to thank though!

pawsies · 13/12/2019 20:32

Yes definitely a catalyst. He's certainly done well for himself in getting his views across and appealing to the public.

Saw him on the news yesterday

He said he spoiled his ballot!

sniffsneeze · 13/12/2019 22:37

Oh they will! Arise Sir Nigel ...

Lolapippin · 13/12/2019 22:38

Yes! One of the best politicians of our time

Samcro · 13/12/2019 22:38

he;s a wanker.

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 13/12/2019 22:39

Yes. He’s a genius.

RaiseaGlasstoFreedom · 13/12/2019 22:51

Yes. Even the guardian Shock has an article saying had he not stood his people down Boris could not have won.

He absolutely needs recognition.

His life has been devoted to getting us out of the eu.... And he's done it...

I'm raising a glass to NIGE.

misspiggy19 · 13/12/2019 23:06

Whole thing was a set up from the start. His party didn’t even gain a single seat yesterday.

He is a master of failure and hypocrisy. He’ll go down as the loser who tried 7 times and couldn’t get elected as an MP.

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 13/12/2019 23:09

No.
He’ll go down as the man who got us out of the EU. Because without Farage & UKIP we’d never have been given a referendum in the 1st place.

CactusAndCacti · 13/12/2019 23:17

TBP got a very small % of votes, I have no reason to believe that it would have made a huge difference in many seats. As mentioned elsewhere TBP got less than 1% of the votes in my local constituency, based on average % votes it would be interesting to actually see a breakdown of where it potentially could have split the vote.

And he didn't do this for the Tories, he did it to serve himself.

RaiseaGlasstoFreedom · 13/12/2019 23:29

How bizzare.. He's totally changed politics, the pressure of ukip and tactical voting got us the ref... He said he'd be around if it didn't go to plan, amazingly vote went his way, but after seeing so called mp hijacking the people he started up the brexit party.

Within months he was already a huge force to be reckoned with, compare that to the party started by chukka and Sourberry.

His party, started months ago was so powerful the torys were begging him to stand aside... He hates the eu. Loves Europe.

He has devoted his life to getting us out.
