I know IABU for posting here but is who is on 3 mobile network and can recommend please?
I'm looking for a contract for my teen DD for Christmas and looks like £8pm saving if I go with 3 rather than O2.

Thanks for any insights!

I’ve been on three for many years, left for Tesco and went back to 3 fast!
Can’t fault it

ForgotwhatIcameinherefor · 12/12/2019 13:49

Ooh thank you x

I’m on 3 and it is truly shite. I don't get 4g in my house, but do just outside?? The customer service is pants, their app is appalling. I often can’t send/receive texts. Wish I’d never swapped from Vodafone!

dinosawus · 12/12/2019 13:56

I was with 3 for years and never had a problem, recently switched to id as they have cheaper deals, it was easy to switch and I've not had any issues

Owlypants · 12/12/2019 13:56

Have a look on their site at the coverage checker and see what the signal is like in your area. Most networks have one on their site

Clymene · 12/12/2019 13:58

Been with 3 for years. They're pretty good

Fr0g · 12/12/2019 13:58

been with Tesco for years - £7.50 a month, so good, but had a few problems getting transferred to a new phone recently,
I'm thinking about moving to iD Mobile, by Carphone Warehouse; uses Three's network. £6 monthly with tons of data and 500 minutes.

Clymene · 12/12/2019 13:59

Argh - presses send too soon but yes check coverage where you are as there are some places I get no signal but my kids (with tesco) do

HiyaVera · 12/12/2019 14:00

Been with 3 for 5 years and I’ve had excellent service and no network issues. I’d definitely recommend them.

Rachelle1980 · 12/12/2019 14:02

Check coverage!!!!

We once stayed in a house (rural area but akin to edge of village, not in a cave, outskirts of nearby large town) and they were a nightmare.

No signal in house (constantly ringing people back like GP missed appointment calls, midwives calls etc, really important stuff). Had to walk into neighbor Garden!!

Rang to update bills but their system couldn't find our address and the call center staff couldn't override... Ended up just hanging up and having the wrong address on it. Which then means we couldn't pass security next time 9n the phone to customer service.

When we contacted them about signal they said we'd have to pay for a booster. Which, when we resorted to getting our credit card out... Turned out wouldn't work with our fucking phones! Not one in the house would work.

Total pita From a signal, customer service, etc pov.

Look at your options!!

coconuttelegraph · 12/12/2019 14:03

The network coverage depends only on where you live or want to use your phone, no point in listening to anyone other than people who live in your area. You'll get meaningful results by asking on somewhere like a local facebook page don't always believe what the shop or coverage maps tell you. Please don't sign up for a deal based on the comments of random strangers.

Rachelle1980 · 12/12/2019 14:03

Same house btw and visitors on Vodafone, etc all had signal.

WwfLeopard · 12/12/2019 14:13

I can’t wait to finish my 3 contract and get away from them, worse customer service ever! No signal 🤬

ffswhatnext · 12/12/2019 14:20

Been with 3 for years on and off. I tried other networks and went back.
Excellent CS, the few times I've had to contact then, they've knocked money off and/or re-set data etc. The last time was when I upgraded Netflix to the ultra hd, noticed my data going down. Seems you cannot watch uhd for free, but they re-set my data and knocked a tenner off the bill.

Can also use it on the underground.

But yes check the coverage regardless of what network you decide to go.

I tried ID when mn was doing the Monqi phone test. Didn't rate the network at all, and as soon as the test was up, went over to 3

nilcarborundum · 12/12/2019 14:30

My experience with 3 has been very good! They gave me a fabulous deal on an iPhone 11 which I'm giving my Dd for Christmas. I just rang up and said Vodafone had X deal and could they match it for me. I'm already with 3 myself, for the last 8 years, so no problems at all 😊

ItsJustASimpleLine · 12/12/2019 14:31

Been with them for over 5 years probably more like 10 but cant quite remember. I'm very happy and have always had a good deal.

Regardless of network check the coverage before buying.

Pilot12 · 12/12/2019 14:32

Have you looked at Tesco, Tesco use O2's network so it's the same network but cheaper.

Reallybadidea · 12/12/2019 14:33

Why not order a free payg sim and put it in your phone to see what coverage is actually like in your house?

Nquartz · 12/12/2019 14:48

I've been with them for nearly 20 years I think! We have dirt cheap sim only deals with unlimited data, loads of minutes etc. DH managed to haggle a cheaper deal once as well.
Never really needed to use customer services so can't comment.
I'm on 4g currently sat outside school so we're in a good coverage area.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 12/12/2019 15:03

My iPad sim is from them, whilst my phone is on Tesco.

I find I get similar reception on both, despite being in an area where other networks struggle.

I've had no problems with them at all. When my original deal ended I looked at their website and saw they had a SIM-only deal along the lines of 12GB for £15. I rang them up and asked for that. They suggested I went up to 20GB and I said there was no way I could afford that, but they gave it to me for £14, and I've been on that ever since (three years I think). Bargain!

Rachelle1980 · 12/12/2019 15:03

We couldn't even get 3g (this was last year) signal in our old house... So i laughed my arse off when I saw the Comms from them about 5g. Total joke of a mobile network.

perkele · 12/12/2019 15:07

I hate 3 with a vengeance.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 12/12/2019 15:16

I'm with 3. The signal is good but they put the price of your contract up at least twice a year and there's a clause saying they're allowed to do so (but seriously who reads the small print?). I got a cheaper contract because I wanted to save money. Within 2 months they'd put it up by £3. I wouldn't bother.

Goodnamesalltaken · 12/12/2019 15:20

I had 3 for around 14 years when all of a sudden I couldn't get any signal/ reception in my house or area. I live in central london. The amount of excuses they came up with; from a tree had fallen, to the residents won't allow a cell tower was ridiculous. They wanted to charge me for a signal booster, but I eventually got one for for free and rebate on my bill. This was after complaining for 6 months. Their customer service is awful they read from a script and can't deviate. I eventually left and went back to vodafone and have had nowhere near as many problems and they have always refunded and errors immediately.
