I'm supposed to go for a hearing test at 9am but I've been up half.yhe night coughing and still am. Would you cancel? Apart from the obvious coughing through the test, I ate cancelling last minite but scared I'll have a coughing fit mid- test

OP posts:

Am I being unreasonable?

Grab a packet of cough sweets and go!

Winkywoop · 11/12/2019 07:52

Coughs are often worse at night. I'd take some throat sweets and go. Especially if it's an NHS one and someone else could have taken your place

Alpacamabags · 11/12/2019 07:52

I would personally get some cough linctus or soothers and go anyway. They might be able to do it. If you don't go it'll waste an appointment because it'll be too early to give to someone who is on cancellation list. If they can't do it at least you made the effort and they can see that

MustardScreams · 11/12/2019 07:53

I’d go, just tell them you’ve got a cough. Take cough sweets and a drink to soothe your throat

Sexnotgender · 11/12/2019 08:01

I’d go, it’s just a cough.

orangeteal · 11/12/2019 08:05

If you've got a cold on top of the cough it'll completely skew the results. If it's just a cough, go.

DeathStare · 11/12/2019 08:05

For a cough? Christ no. Hmm

ShetlandWife · 11/12/2019 08:06

Get some broncho stop pastilles. They work like magic!

PurpleDaisies · 11/12/2019 08:08

The only reason to cancel would be if the cough is part of a cold that might have affected your hearing. If not, take strepsils and a bottle of water.

Freesunglasses · 11/12/2019 08:09

Ok thanks all I'm going.
@deathstare its dry and hacking and never ending!

Definitely go. It will cost the NHS more than hundred pounds for your missed appointment.

I've been coughing at night too but now I'm up and out it's eased off. Piping hot black tea helps and cavonia sweets are great
