Deliveroo can deliveradoo one

I ordered lunch through Deliveroo. It said 25-35 mins. Every time the allotted time came around it moved back 10 mins. Then I noticed the driver wasn’t moving at all. So after an hour and a quarter I phoned them, they wouldn’t refund me (So I could get lunch elsewhere) but said they had allocated another driver and promised it would be with me in 10 mins.

Half an hour later the new driver hadn’t moved on the app. I phoned back and they just said ‘Yeah ok, we’ve cancelled the order bye.’ No apology or anything! I had no lunch as it was 2 hours later by this point.

AIBU to think if they can’t deliver lunch in 2 hours they should compensate me or at the very least apologise! I still have no idea what the issue was as they didn’t offer any explanation.

Where are you op? We've had similar problems. I think they expanded into the area too quickly and just didn't have the drivers/riders to support it.

Just at have done this in the past. Annoying, but I think they've just tried to grow too quickly, without the staff.

Yanbu that is really frustrating! I've had two terrible experiences with deliveroo (back when they first expanded in my area) I then didn't try them for a while but have since used a couple of times and had positive experiences.

sunshine do just eat have their own drivers now? I thought just eat was a database for takeaways?

They've done this to me so many times - I then ate as they told me it wouldn't be delivered and wasn't refunded - there seems to be little way to contact them it's really annoying. However they have refunded me instantly for missing items so it seems to be really varied.

I agree just eat have also done similar things. Again I think this is about growing too quickly.

They've recently started delivering in our town and I have used them twice. Once it took over an hour to get the food, and it was stone cold when it arrived. The second time they delivered someone else's order to us and had to reorder our food. I have never had these issues with just eat, I won't bother using deliveroo again!

It's often because drivers work for Deliveroo and Uber Eats or/JustEat. Then it looks to them they have enough drivers on a shift, but they actually don't.
It's a MASSIVE pain for the restaurants too.

They were crap when they first started in our area and we had the same. Fine now they're established.

If you complain is the website chat feature you can get refund or credit.

Deliveroo is hit and miss. Portion sizes are one way I notice they scam you. What should be e.g. a dinner size burrito can be more like a wrap! I've had wrong orders and missing alcohol too which was refunded not replaced so not sure who ended up drinking it!!

You can't blame deliveroo for small portion sizes. That's down to the restaurant.
