Petite ladies 5’3 and under

I have a question for all you lovely ladies.
I am 5ft and have trouble finding clothes that fit me. I regularly order online from brands such as BooHoo and PrettyLittleThing petite range but I could order 2 dresses from BooHoo in size 4 and one will fit me yet the other won’t although they’re the same style.
I also have this issue with high street shops such as Topshop and New Look. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to walk into a shop and have all different petite ranges including the ones only sold online!!

Ladies do you experience the same issue?

5 ft 2 here

its a mare! i do like dP`s petite range.....

RandomMess · 10/12/2019 14:43

Yep I mainly buy 2nd hand in shops tbh as nothing even in the petite ranges ever fits!

TeenPlusTwenties · 10/12/2019 14:45

Following with interest as I have 2 petite DDs under 5'3.

Lockheart · 10/12/2019 14:46

You should try the style and beauty forum OP, this is AIBU.

Im 5'2 and a size 8. I ised to have the same problem but i dont know, now i just shop in normal ranges? Sometimes the trousers are a little long (i have very short legs) other than that mostly fine. Last time i tried to shop in petite ranges every thing seemed more expensive.

TwinMum89 · 10/12/2019 14:47

Yes! I’m 4ft 11. Shops either don’t have a petite range in store or they only have a small selection. I like Next’s petite range, though their clothes are not cheap!

thunderandsunshine01 · 10/12/2019 14:51

Have exactly the same issue. Mainly to do with dresses, if I dont shop petite then they tend to sit at an unflattering length, but I find ordering from petite ranges really unreliable and can actually be too short! Even though I am def below the 5'3 height limit!

Usually a really cruddy limited selection available too.

marmitemayonnaise · 10/12/2019 14:54

I like asos petite range, especially as returns are easy to do.

NannySusan · 10/12/2019 14:57

I like and order a lot from Next petite, mainly because it's so easy to return to store.
It does make a difference when clothes are cut to a shorter frame.

charm8ed · 10/12/2019 14:59

I like New Look’s jeans and jeggings. They come in 4 lengths and I buy the second shortest and they fit perfectly. I’m five feet one and a half inches.

Wexone · 10/12/2019 14:59

Try ASOS or Next, River Island does a good bit of petite online. Boohoo and Pretty Little Things are not great for quality items and am not suprised that you are finding things not the same

SerenDippitty · 10/12/2019 15:07

5ft 2. Yes I find petite ranges are proportioned wrong for me. I have relatively long legs and slightly short arms so coat and jacket sleeves usually over my knuckles. I need regular length trousers, short are too short. That said Wallis do a nice range of petite maxi dresses and jumpsuits.

Keepmewarm · 10/12/2019 15:10

I never buy anything without trying on first.
Next never seems to fit me, the size 6 seems big imo.
I would love to just pick up clothes and not have them altered.

damnthatanxiety · 10/12/2019 15:17

The irregular sizing is not just a petite range issue. It's across the board. High street sidings are just terrible. I'm 5'3" and I find petites are too short but regular stuff is often too long Confused

HaHaVeryBunny · 10/12/2019 15:21

I find Gap and Zara are great, Gap in particular does sizes in XS, they fit perfectly and wash well over a long time.

halloumi2019 · 10/12/2019 15:49

For work basics, M&S.

I love Topshop, their clothes tend to fit as they stock size 4/6 and petite lengths. I’m more of an 8 but when you’re shorter than average, clothes tend to look oversized so it looks nicer when I size down!

I love Zara but I find that their sizes aren’t true to size, they tend to design clothes with a certain look in mind eg a Small sized top that fits like a Large size because they want it to be oversized?

To be honest I manage to find clothes that look decent (inc trousers & jumpsuits) for everything aside from work. Workwear is definitely hard

halloumi2019 · 10/12/2019 15:53

Love this jumpsuit for example, note the slightly cropped length (it also comes in petite)

Topshop

PumpkinP · 10/12/2019 18:11

I had this with boohoo but not the petite range. Bought 2 dresses the same design just different colours and one fit and one didn’t Confused

Ticklemeelmo · 10/12/2019 18:19

I'm 5'2 - I think there's a huge gap in the market for petite clothing that is well made, and a happy medium between all the size 4 crop tops in Miss Selfridge/ Topshop and frumpy petite ranges in department stores. I tend to just buy from the normal sections but a lot of it would look ridiculous.

LaurieMarlow · 10/12/2019 18:24

I’m 5’1 but I only have a problem with trousers. So I don’t wear them much. Im in dresses/skirts most of the time.

For jeans/basic black trousers I’ve found M&S/Next to be quite good.
