To ask where you brought maternity clothes

I'm at my wits end.

Not one single high street shop actually has a maternity section in store so you can actually you know try before you buy given the fact you probably don't know what size you need.

I've ordered some maternity stuff from ASOS that looks like I'm wearing a sack of spuds.

Can anyone help?! 😂🤣

ASOS, H&M and Topshop

NorthernBirdAtHeart · 10/12/2019 10:17

Top Shop and H&M

f00k · 10/12/2019 10:18

H&M. My local one has a really small section in the kidswear department. Maternity clothes are usually your usual size as they've already factored in the extra space you'll need. I ordered a few things from H&M online in my usual size and they all fit fine.

Asda also have a maternity range online which is good for basics such as vests and t-shirts.

LolaSmiles · 10/12/2019 10:18

I found that annoying.

Jeans I got from H&M because they had a small section in store.

Most other things I bought on eBay or from nearly new sales.

DrPimplePopper · 10/12/2019 10:18

Dorothy Perkins and ASOS. George at Asda also does a few bits.

Eggies · 10/12/2019 10:20

I'm pretty sure New Look has a maternity section too

Autumnsloth · 10/12/2019 10:26

Gap for jeans, they often have sales. Also new look and h n m... I ordered it and tried on in the shop

GingerRH · 10/12/2019 10:27

@f00k @LolaSmiles HM did have a small section. I tried their jeans but found them really uncomfortable. The waist on the jean was basically round my ass crack and then the belly band above.

@Baboutheocelot @NorthernBirdAtHeart it would appear that all the size 14 girls all got up the duff at the same time as every pair of topshop jeans I look at are out of stock in any size except size 6/8 😭

H&M and New look. I also bought ASOS maternity trousers for work which are fantastic and I may still wear them now, a year on Grin.

Camomila · 10/12/2019 10:31

Bought pjs and leggings in Aldi when they had a baby event.
Bought some stuff from H&M and Debenham in the shop. Tights from M&S (but my H&M ones were better)

Mostly I'm wearing stretchy dresses/jumpers in a size or 2 bigger than usual.

Smarshian · 10/12/2019 10:32

I mainly bought from new look. Found that they fitted the best. Few things from H&M too.

TowelStripes · 10/12/2019 10:37

I'm a 14 and got bits on ebay from jojo maman bebe and isabella Oliver (for jeans). I also bought new from h&m

joCmummy · 10/12/2019 10:37

Didn't. Just bought baggy jumpers and larger leggings from Asda and Sainsbury's. Still wear the jumpers. OH did buy me two pairs of maternity shorts and a top from Amazon.

Beldon · 10/12/2019 10:40

New Look, Debenhams (really cheap in summer sales) and Mothercare. There were never any in my size when I bought my collection but fb market place have many people selling maternity clothes that look good quality, a friend bought all her clothes from there.

FiveFarthings · 10/12/2019 10:40

I bought from Jojo Maman Bebe, Dorothy Perkins, New Look and ASOS. I had to buy online as we have limited choice where I live. I found these to be the best ones for value/fit.

Don’t bother buying anything from Seraphine. They say their clothing is for full term pregnancy but it’s really not. I had a couple of dresses from there and they fitted whilst I had a lovely neat bump up until about 20 weeks but there was no way they’d fit past that! And I didn’t put any weight on either, it was just the bump. Absolute waste of money!

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 10/12/2019 10:45

I found that buying online was actually a lot better than for normal clothes. I bought my normal size and they are generally stretchy enough that there is quite a lot of leeway in sizing. I bought from dorothy perkins, Topshop, new look, h and m and mamaliscious. I did have to try on jeans though but that was mothercare, not sure if any are still open

whatsinthebagwhatcoulditbe · 10/12/2019 10:47

Online from ASOS and eBay.

For actual shops I went to the Topshop maternity shop at Oxford Circus, Seraphine in Marylebone and the maternity section in John Lewis.

Cheesestrings123 · 10/12/2019 10:48

H&M, ASOS and Boohoo

kjhkj · 10/12/2019 10:49

There are quite a few maternity dresses in the next clearance section online atm

RobinsNest17 · 10/12/2019 10:55

On the high street, only New Look and H&M. JojoMamanBebe and Mothercare (not for long) also sell them but they are more expensive and I'm always tight with spending on things that I'll only use a few months.

Online I've had good stuff from Mamalicious, New Look, George at Asda, Next and very cheap-but-ok stuff from Happy Mama. I also got some very cheap stuff from Boohoo this time, but that really was crap quality and I sent most of it back.

NorthernBirdAtHeart · 10/12/2019 10:55

Also check ebay. I bought some beautiful Isabella Oliver maternity bits which were as new, and a fraction of the price.
Good luck!

TheTrollFairy · 10/12/2019 10:59

New look for maternity jeans. H&M for actual maternity tops and I just went to Primark and sized up on a lot of stuff!

Maternity clothes will be your same size as when you aren’t pregnant as they factor in the belly!
I also purchased some belly banks which allowed me to wear bits I already had for longer (eg jeans I just didn’t do up the button properly, I used a hair and and then stuck a belly band over it)
