LOL dolls?

Looking for some for Christmas for DD. All the sets seem to comprise one measly doll and then some other tat that DD won't want. Am I searching incorrectly? Is it possible to just buy a set of the dolls? Any advice very welcome! Thanks.

They’re shit, just a total waste of money and plastic.

You pay £10.99 for a tiny doll it probably costs them 50p to manufacture. It’s such a rip off, I refuse to buy them anymore. You can buy bigger boxes for £30 which I did for my DD’s birthday and I shan’t be making that mistake again! It’s still just one small doll encased in a big bath bomb Confused.

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 09/12/2019 15:47

Isn’t the Tat that comes with it the dolls outfit?

PumpkinP · 09/12/2019 16:19

SO glad my daughter isn’t into these 😁

Pumperthepumper · 09/12/2019 16:21

They are absolute landfill fodder, it’s actually ridiculous they are allowed to produce them. Tiny little plastic bags that go straight in the bin with the rest of the wrapping, it makes me rage.

Mileymileymoomoo · 09/12/2019 16:26

All the dolls come in a ball or capsule with an outfit and bottle. You can buy bigger sets but these have a doll / dolls and outfits.

You will get plenty of comments on here about how they are a waste of money. I don’t agree, my DD loves them and uses them a lot. She has plenty of other toys which she has played with once and then not bothered with again but her lol dolls get regular use.

You don’t know what one you get so if getting more than one you may get a duplicate. My DD and her friends do swaps and there are swapping groups on Facebook.

The amount of packaging is shocking though!

A couple of my daughter's friends are really into them and they spend hours playing- dressing and undressing them. They love the stuff that comes with the dolls.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 09/12/2019 16:34

I refuse to buy th for environmental reasons. (Plus some outfits are inappropriate... we've had one come in black underwear with zips!) I know there are children who like them, but I think for many they are a 5 minute wonder.
There are lots of dolls with more play value.

If you do wish to purchase- it's a small doll in a plastic case with 'accessories'. I recommend having a container ready for the bits

FizzyIce · 09/12/2019 16:39

My dd is an lol fiend, she lives and breathes them.
I don’t really get what you mean by “all the other tat” as you get the doll and the clothes/bottle.
There is a set that has lots of dolls but it’s stupidly expensive.
I only bought the camper for dd this year as it’s the only on her list, if she got bored easily of them then I wouldn’t waste the money or the plastic but it’s the only thing she’s plays with

Lindy2 · 09/12/2019 16:39

If you want several dolls buy several of the small packages. You'll get a doll and outfit in each. Some are around £5 each in the Christmas sales.

They are a bit naff but my DD loves them. She plays with them for hours so I'm happy to buy her what she wants for Christmas.

Soubriquet · 09/12/2019 16:40

If you go on LOL sites on fb you can buy bundle of dolls for decent prices

I collect them myself and love them

MissChanandalaBong · 09/12/2019 17:33

Well on the one hand they are expensive over-packaged plastic tat. On the other hand, if your dd loves them then they will be well worth the money you pay. My dd and her friends sit and play with their lols for hours and hours, more so than any other toy they have. So from that perspective they are worth it.

Zombieseverywhere · 09/12/2019 17:50

My 2 dd absolutely love LOL dolls, it's pretty much the only thing they play with and have since last Xmas!

smogsville · 11/12/2019 12:06

Thanks everyone for the comments. Looks like my impression of how they're sold wasn't far off the mark. The other thing she's after is Harry Potter Lego so I think I'll go for that instead. Merry Christmas!

Or go to Poundland who have the licence for the lol dolls books, hair bows, clips, jewellery, make up... make a box of fun things up.
