To ask where you buy second hand stuff these days?

I used to sell loads of stuff on Ebay and Gumtree, but these days nobody's buying ... where are you all? Is it Facebook Marketplace or somewhere else? Maybe there are just so many different outlets for second-hand stuff these days that the buyers have thinned out on all platforms?

FB marketplace and Shpock . No charges mostly pick up / drop off. Can negotiate directly with the person.

I buy kids clothes in Ebay and specific Facebook selling groups, because I look for particular brands and items so the chance of then coming up locally is slim.

Everything else it's Facebook marketplace.

Depop is absolutely brilliant. A mix of people who have bought the wrong size clothes, and want to sell and second hand clothing. You can negotiate via PM too, it’s great and I’ve had some bargains.

Depop - buy masses off it

NorthEndGal · 08/12/2019 21:43

I use local fb selling pages, or stores.

And mostly I shop second hand stores locally, they give me coupons every time I donate clothes back. They know me and what I like and let me know when things I like come in. I can try the clothes on and immediately know if the are right or not.

Facebook and gumtree are my go toos.

Andysbestadventure · 08/12/2019 21:46

Facebook mostly. Ebay is dying a slow death.

Is Depop just clothing?
I use Facebook marketplace and local facebook selling groups, but some things don't seem to sell on there.

TheTruthAboutLove · 08/12/2019 22:07

From what I’ve seen Depop is mostly clothing and shoes.

My best buy on there was a brand new Fred Perry checked shirt, complete with tags. The person had bought it and forgot all about returning it and after a bit of haggling I got a £85 shirt for £15 including delivery. It’s a great place for second hand and new clothing.

It’s also really popular with the younger generation - for example buying everything when Supreme releasing it and then selling on inflated on Depop. So many bargains to be had though!

JuniperSling · 08/12/2019 22:13

How do you use Depop? Is it just a phone app or can you do it from a pc?

FleurNancy · 08/12/2019 22:15

I used Depop and just signed up for Vinted but I prefer to buy from charity shops, feels like a win win for me.

TheTruthAboutLove · 08/12/2019 22:20

It’s a phone app. There isn’t an actual website for it.

PumpkinP · 08/12/2019 23:16

I didn’t realise people still used gumtree. I would say sphock and eBay
