So Sad Christmas

This Christmas is turning into one of those poignant memory lane trips but am so proud of my 2DCs.
Mum passed away 5 years ago and my Dad this year - so first time without either of my parents.
We have just put the tree up, which we used to go and do this weekend for my parents. Eldest helped me set it up. Has put the lights on - nothing else, oyungest has made a plate of smoked salmon, cream cheese, my parents favourite nibbles, poured me a glass of red wine and we have sat in the darkness with just the Xmas lights on snuggled on the sofa.

Time for new Christmas memories but bloody hell this is hard. No one ever tells you how hard it is.

It is so hard. I lost my dad 10 years ago and my mum nearly 5. My children were only young but mum and dad loved Christmas so I always find this time of year hard. I love it for the children but I feel sad for so many times that I feel they’ve missed out on and traditions as they change.
Your children sound lovely and thoughtful. Time helps a little bit it never gets truly better I’m afraid. It it hasn’t for me at least. Enjoy the time with your children and maybe agree some new traditions the 3 of you would enjoy.
