Missing advent calendar item!

I wanted a Look Fantastic advent calendar this year but was too late and had to settle for a Debenhams one instead (which, to be fair, was half price at £45).

I’ve been really good at not peeking and have looked forward to opening each day’s box... BUT TODAY’S BOX IS EMPTY!!! Apparently it’s a Nars blusher which would have been a very welcome addition to my cosmetics bag.

First world problem and all that but AIBU to be upset enough to follow it up? Did it get snaffled during the packing process, was it an oversight? Why couldn’t it have been the watermelon scented primer which I’ll never use?!!

I’d totally follow up. Does no harm.

smoothieooo · 07/12/2019 14:44

Thanks Elieza - I tweeted and was advised that it may have dropped out of the box. Not a chance!

£45 for an Advent Calendar, and that was half price? Confused

OK. Hmm

whyamidoingthis · 07/12/2019 15:01

I have the debenham's one and there is no way it could have fallen out, as the boxes are packed in very tightly so there is nowhere for it to go.

Definitely follow up. That's one of the more expensive items in the calendar. Was the box for today closed properly? If so, it was presumably an oversight. If not, it probably fell out in the packing process. Either way, you've paid for a Nars blusher so debenham's need to make good on that.

whyamidoingthis · 07/12/2019 15:01

What's your point @MistyCloud?

firawla · 07/12/2019 15:03

Just tweet them back and ask them to either refund it or send the item - you’ve paid so fairs fair

smoothieooo · 07/12/2019 15:08

Yep whyami the box was closed tight so impossible for it to have fallen out.

Just waiting for a response to my tweet firawla

MistyCloud - that’s one of the cheaper advent calendars Grin

Make the point that the box was fully closed so not possible to fall out. It's about 0.5cm deep so couldn't have fallen out of a closed box.

I had this with an M&S beauty calendar a couple of years ago. I emailed them, they were v apologetic but said they couldn’t replace as all calendars had been sold. I got a £10 gift voucher as a sorry! Fab customer service!

MotherofTerriers · 07/12/2019 15:26

I had a Liberty advent calendar a few years ago and one item didn't have the lid on properly and had leaked all over the place. I contacted them several times but they never got back in touch with me. Haven't bought anything from them since

smoothieooo · 09/12/2019 17:29

Final offer from Debenhams... 10% off of the value of the advent calendar. So £4.50 (a Nars blusher is £25 on their website). No explanation as to how this could happen and they are not forthcoming on whether they've had similar complaints.

OP posts:
LiquoricePickle · 10/12/2019 02:58

I would continue to fight that. Ask for a replacement?

The nars blusher in the advent calendar is smaller than the £25 one, but that's not the point.

Stoople · 10/12/2019 03:01

With that paltry offer they are basically saying that you are lying and it's a small token gesture. That's very disappointing from a company such as Debenhams, I know they do get people who don't tell the truth and lose money because of it, but it would make me not want to shop there again.
