To ask the protocol with Facebook marketplace

We’re trying to get rid of a fridge freezer and had a couple of people ask to buy through gumtree but then either never respond or cheekily ask us to deliver.
I’ve moved it onto Facebook marketplace and put it at £20 just to get rid of it. We’ve had loads of messages asking if it’s still available and one woman who has asked to come and collect it this evening. What would you reply to the other messages bearing in mind this woman may be another time waster and may not show up.
Ideally I want it gone today but also conscious people will need a van to collect it so don’t want anyone arranging that only for this woman to turn up and collect it. But it’s also cluttering up my living room currently so want it gone ASAP.

I always just respond with its pending collection but I'll get back in touch if it doesn't get collected & see if you're still interested. People accept that & usually send a thank you in reply.

I’d reply as above- pending collection, will let you know if the first person doesn’t turn up.

If I need something gone, I always add “priority given to those who can collect quickly”- for some reason this seems to give people the drive to do just that.

I do the same.

I've found Marketplace much more successful than Gumtree too. I sold loads within 24 hours last weekend. A couple of things were collected within the hour. Made £220 last weekend!

Yes just put sold pending collection.

Don’t hang onto it for the people longer than tonight though, move on to the next person!

Perfect thanks everyone!
