Health worry- Am I over thinking it?

A lump has formed in the top of my leg tonight which is red, warm and I'm getting very weird sensations down my leg.

It feels like pins and needles, numbness and a slight cramp all at once. I've got a headache and don't feel myself at all.

Google has scared me to death with the mention of a blood clot but I've come on here to see what you suggest I do and what you would do if you were me right now.

I'm tempted to go to bed but I'm overthinking it and worried whether I should do something more about it.

Call nhs24 put your mind at ease. They will know best. No harm in calling

I saw my GP once for leg pain and she advised for a blood clot it's very sore, swollen significantly, may be hotter than other leg, has significant colour change. That's just what she told me a few yes ago, but I got the impression you'd know if you were so ill iyswim

Could it be an insect bite? Or a reaction/cut from something? You’re possibly having a reaction, which would explain the lump too. If it’s more of a swelling than a lump then I’d seek further advice. I’d go with PP suggestion of calling NHS if you’d rather be reassured by a professional - although you’ll probably be asked to go in. Hope you’re ok soon.

Please call nhs direct, it could be a horrid spot but you need someone to decide whether a blood clot or anything else needs ruling out

Call 111

Branster · 07/12/2019 00:52

Without wanting to alarm you, you must call an ambulance.
If it is a blood clot, you need to go to hospital ASAP and you will get the right treatment. It is not something you want to leave and see how it goes.
They are the only ones able to tell you for certain.
I hope it’s not as serious but you need to get it checked.

Branster · 07/12/2019 08:52

DillaAqua just checking you are OK. Did you go to the hospital?

DillaAqua · 07/12/2019 09:30

Thank you everyone for your replies.

I rang 111 who said to take some painkillers, put a cold compress on it and if it doesn't help then to get myself to in to be seen.

It feels much better this morning, thank you for your concern.

That’s good, phew! Please be careful and monitor if you have further pain or swelling, the fact that you didn’t feel yourself can also be indicative of a blood clot. Someone very close to me had 4 DVT episodes (each time a blood clot in a lower leg) over a period of 15 years or so and it’s really scary. Another good friend had some sort of weird episode where he developed loads of blood clots all of a sudden and that was sooo scary. Both fit, healthy active individuals so it can happen. BUT it can be treated that’s why it’s good not to ignore symptoms like these. I hope my comment didn’t cause much panic last night, but I’m a bit paranoid about blood clots and don’t want anyone to miss potential signs.
