WIBU to apply for promotion when PG?

OK, this is a very hypothetical question, but my catholic guilt/anxiety is in overdrive.

TTC for the last couple of months. Took an early detection test this morning and got a very faint positive line (period due tomorrow, so will re-test to make sure).

Also got a message from my boss today that a promotion he's been wanting me to apply for will be advertised in the next month or so. I applied for a similar role a few months ago and was 2nd choice.

The new role would be permanent but is being put in place to work with a specific client, supporting an initial 2 year contract starting in Jan.

So, WIBU to apply for the role, without telling them I'm PG (if I am?) If I am, I'd be due in Aug, so would only have 7/8 months working on the contract. If it makes a difference, it's work I've been doing de facto to support my boss since Jan this year, just with a new client.

Boss has been v supportive up to now, so I feel guilty applying without telling him I'm PG, but equally don't feel I should have to tell him (and potentially lose out on the promotion) if the advert/interview happens during the first trimester.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Personally I wouldn’t even tell him until a few months, go and get your promotion! All businesses have to be prepared for this thing to happen and why should you possibly miss out just because you’re having a baby? You may be on good terms with boss but you owe him nothing. Plus if you do get the promotion, you’ll have a better job to come back to, I don’t know how maternity pay works at your place but that could go up depending. Good luck!

I personally wouldn't. I think you should let someone who has the time to commit have a go at getting it.
