To throw shoes outside!

In my back hall I AM FOR EVER tiding shoes! I told them to set them neat and tidy or bring them up to their room. The amount of times I've near went on my face!! Counting to 10 has stopped working..

Would it be UR to just start throwing shoes outside if they don't keep them tidy?!

(Bit of light hearted fun)

Depends. Is there sufficient storage? How old? I wouldn't want my DC taking their muddy boots into their rooms...

LittleSF · 05/12/2019 10:47

Messy shoes wreck my head - so I got one of those cheapy Ikea Kallax units in the hall and everyone has a box each and chucks their shoes in there. Works 70% of the time Grin

bluebella4 · 05/12/2019 10:50

No, no storage! Good shoes (such as school shoes) go upstairs and they can have shoes in the hall (no shoes to be worn in the house) if they need to go outside. It's used as a dumping ground, I wouldn't mind but how many times do you need to repeat yourself?!

@little oh I like the sound of that.

Around here shoes left outside get taken away by foxes.

KnightandDay · 05/12/2019 10:56

I have one of those shoe cabinets too LittleSF ; feels like I'm the only who actually uses it Crown Hmm

bluebella4 · 05/12/2019 10:57

We don't have many foxes about. But do you think they would keep them tidy if they knew foxes would take them 🤔

YABU. Absolutely YABU.

But only because I tend to leave my shoes by the door, and it drives my husband crazy. Don't want him to think that throwing them out is an acceptable solution!

RevengeOfTheRoundRobin · 05/12/2019 11:10

Ok, YABU!

There's no proper storage.
They're not allowed to wear shoes inside.
You want them to take them (e.g. school shoes) upstairs each day, then bring them down when they want to go out. It's tedious. Sort some storage by door - where they need them.

Then, if there's no improvement, YANBU.

Around here it’s not foxes it’s crackheads.. never been so annoyed, left a pair of boots out after walking the dogs and they grew legs. Neighbours asked if we’d had anyone in our shed their cctv had picked up someone being shifty at the front garden but couldn’t clearly see what they done.

We’ve got a cheap £20 unit from eBay for ours keeps it clearish and there’s not a visible line up either.

RollOnNextYear · 05/12/2019 11:13

My dad did this growing up. He warned us twice. Then when We didn't he calmly said OK.. Unlike him. Got up the next day to cold wet shoes on front lawn.. Remember having to hairdryer them

I learned by this.. My brother didn't. School. Bags the lot got put outside

Itsnotalwaysme · 05/12/2019 11:15

Tie all the laces together every time they get left laying around Grin

RollOnNextYear · 05/12/2019 11:15

Our storage is under the stairs in a cupboard..
We get thro door. Shoes off. Then in cupboard. Only. Exception is if we're going back out soon. Ie today ds will get in, shower then out, he wears trainers to school so will prob wear them same ones.

bluebella4 · 05/12/2019 11:16

@Areyoufree sorry that made me giggle... I kno I can go over the top sometimes

@revengeoftheroundrabbit they have a set of shoes for school which stay upstairs. Obviously they wear them when dressed for school in the morning but when they come back they take them off and bring them upstairs. They have a second set that stay in the back hall for when they need to go outside. They also have wellies. They just fling them off and just leave them at their arse after repeat being told to tidy them. Not difficult to set them against the wall. But I will have to invest in a storage box each..
