I’ve never been that great at keeping to my New Years resolutions! But it’s that time of year again where I start to wonder what I could do differently next year!
What’s your New Years resolutions? Or what have been the best ones you have previously kept to?

Just do it today

mariposa23 · 04/12/2019 14:38

This year I set pretty normal goals for my resolutions
Stop biting my nails
Be a more confident driver
Be more patient with the kids
Loose weight
I've done all of them apart from my nails 😂

Try not to set resolutions that r impossible to get too

Sunflowersok · 04/12/2019 14:51

I made the resolution of giving something up each month for the duration of the whole month. It worked! I mixed it up a bit too.

Coffee, chocolate, saying yes when I really meant no, etc etc.

Unnecessary spending is another good one too. Go to the shop with a list and stick to it. Not buying two simply because it’s two for a quid. Etc etc. I saved about 30 quid a week.

Last year I made my partner a positive quote jar to pick one of every morning every day, that went well too.

I haven’t thought about this years but getting a new job and saving money (and doing more hikes!!) will be priority

livingthegoodlife · 04/12/2019 14:57

Pay off my credit card debt

BloodyCats · 04/12/2019 15:00

I set myself a goal last year of making myself think positively and becoming fitter and healthier. Only bloody stuck to it!

Next year my aim is to have a calendar and use it so I don’t forget as many appointments.

C1239 · 04/12/2019 15:52

Thats great Bloodycats! Can I ask how you went about your goals? Especially thinking positively?!

Divorce.

sallievp · 04/12/2019 16:36

Mine is always the same each year....to be happy! Sounds cringy but works for me!

Outsomnia · 04/12/2019 16:39

WTF its only the 4th of December!

Anyway this NY resolution stuff is total crap. We just carry on living as best we can mostly and the daily grind goes on.

FestiveFavourites · 04/12/2019 16:43

Mine will be to pay off my credit card debt. This year's was to lose weight and I have, 3 stone off, woohoo. I also want to make sure I have a better work/life balance, and do something totally selfish just for me, at least once a month. I'm going to stop being such a people pleaser and say no instead of yes as well.

ohprettybaby · 04/12/2019 16:44

Be the best version of myself I can be.
Be early for appointments.
Keep on top of the housework.
Lose weight.
Get fit.

Whattodoabout · 04/12/2019 16:48

I succeeded more with weight loss when I started on a Thursday in mid April than on New Years Day or a Monday.

BloodyCats · 04/12/2019 16:55

C1239 hasn’t been easy and I’m certainly no expert but my mental health has improved greatly. I cut out all social media that made me feel negative about myself and started to follow people who are interesting or funny, or who spread a positive message without adding 100 filters to a pretty photo of themselves.

I talk to myself kindly. It’s helpful to imagine you are someone else that is feeling down or negative about something. How would you talk to them? You definitely wouldn’t be as mean and critical as you are to yourself. When I can feel myself go in to a negative cycle I try and cut it off and distract myself.

Exercise has helped hugely. I don’t want to get up and start doing it but once I’m done I feel great. Running is such a good feeling once you get used to it. It’s hard to feel shit after a good run.

It really will be different for different people but I genuinely think it helps to speak to yourself kindly. I was so horrible about myself and I just got sick and tired of hating myself.

Cauliflowerpower · 04/12/2019 17:01

My top two are to eat a more plant based diet - I HAVE started this already....

And quit the unnecessary spending... AMAZON, I'm looking at YOU!

Outsomnia · 04/12/2019 18:06

Start in February, and do nothing in January is my view depending on your goals.

Ease yourself into it. January is shit for most of us. Not the right time IMV. But each to their own I suppose.

It is getting brighter in the evenings in Feb too.

FestiveFavourites · 04/12/2019 18:07

@Cauliflowerpower

Delete your card details off your Amazon account, it stops that 'buy now' impulse spending madness. I speak from experience, hence my resolution to pay off my credit card debt in 2020.
