AIBU - 20% payrise when moving firms

Hi everyone.

Who has moved firms with their team - what payrise did you get?
I had alot of personal issues when I was approached and now I wish:

*I called up some agencies beforehand to see my market value
*Started negotiations at a 20% increase point and then worked down.

How did you deal with it? I feel that I should have negotiated more as it was my team wanting me to go with them!

I am a Legal Secretary in the City and would like to know how much could we even potentially earn - what is our upper margin? How many of you earn in the late £40K/£50K margin? I thought I did good til I saw my colleague who is younger and junior than me and she managed to get £3k more.

You don't ask, you don't get ~Lifelesson.

I don’t know about legal secretaries but when I was approached and moved I started from a 37% increase and negotiated from there. I’m in PR.

Wow that is amazing! What increase did you get in the end and how did you come to the figure - just researching what else is around?
