Thats it, really. I think i'm obsessed with them. Everything about the atmosphere - it's so calming!! Something about seeing art just calms my soul.
Friends think i'm overdramatic and that it's just paintings Grin
Is there an art topic here on MN??

Why would that be unreasonable? 🤔

YANBU. They make my soul feel nourished (am very aware that sounds a bit wanky Blush). My toddler's not so keen on them, though!

Have you been to the Sistine Chapel?

Have you ever screamed at a painting though? Grin

Honestly I find them boring

Haha the Sistine Chapel thread Grin

I'm the same OP. We moved to a city without many and I really miss spending time in the ones in London where we used to live

You do sound a little bit like the originator of that thread, just trying to start off more believably Grin

Tabu. I love art museums (and am pretty much obsessed with the V &A) but galleries not so much. The art is usually not that impressive to me and particularly not compared to the price tags!

Hah yep, first thing I thought of

If this is another Sistine Screamer then I applaud the OP for playing the long game Grin

I also love art galleries

Not just for the art but the 'which one would you fuck if you had to' conversation I had with my best once about a line of sculptured heads in the National Portrait Gallery

Now we play it every time Grin

I love art too. I can happily spend hours wandering around galleries.

I saw the Sistine Chapel for the first time this year. I haven't a clue how the screamer got away with it, the staff were constantly shushing people & ushering them through as quickly as possible. Maybe they'd been told about the thread Grin

YANBU, and you've also helped make me realise that I'm not making the most of the ones at my disposal. Thank you!

wherearemypaintbrushes it was probably top of my art list of things to do and I'm glad I've seen it, but the crowds made it difficult to appreciate it. It was May, so not even high season. There are benches round the sides so you can sit & scream at appreciate the closest bits to you, but to see it properly as a whole you'd need to be there off season when it's quiet so you can wander around.

It’s like talking to my teenaged self. Local art gallery was the go to hang out spot. Unfortunately we only have crappy commercial ones catering to a very low brow population when I live.

velveteen - that makes me so sad Sad would have loved to have a place like that growing up though!!
