To not be invited ?

I work one day a week as a receptionist. I only work 4 hours, alone (covering part of a night shift) so I never meet the day staff or my boss. AIBU to feel left out that I haven't been invited to the staff xmas meal again. I've been working there for 3 years now.

YANBU. Not at all. That is very unthinking of them.

@Birdgirl67 that's a bit shit alright. Why don't you ask can you attend? Maybe the person organising just forgot.

Herocomplex · 25/11/2019 22:43

Yep, they should have invited you. Email the manager, remind them you exist!

misspiggy19 · 25/11/2019 22:48

To be fair, I can imagine they’ve just forgotten about you as you only work 4 hours a week and on your own at night.

Would you want to even want to go since you don’t work with them?

Lindy2 · 25/11/2019 23:01

If you want to go send an email along the lines of "would it be ok to join you all at the Christmas party this year? It would be nice to meet some of the other staff."

I'm sure it's an oversight or the organiser assuming you don't want to go as you don't know the day staff.

Invite yourself op. You work there.

EmmiJay · 25/11/2019 23:08

Three years and they 'forgot' you...? Nope! I say you turn up at the meal, in dramatic Alexis Carrington Colby style and announce your arrival!

KamikazeIdiot · 25/11/2019 23:15

Oh, what I'd give not to be invited to the work Christmas meal. Grass always greener, I suppose...
