Christmas Cake with alcohol for young child

Right, I may be being a bit OTT to even ask, but AIBU to give my 2yo DS Christmas cake which was made to this recipe?

I used whisky to soak the fruit. I'm guessing the booze would've burnt off in the cooking process? And even if he did eat that much booze it was 4 tbsp for the entire cake and he will most likely have a small piece.

I have heard that you can feed the cake with tea and fruit juice instead of more booze, so I'll do that.

Thoughts? Am I bonkers to even worry?

He obviously hasn't eaten any yet as it's only November, but I'm just checking in advance.

Child will be fine. I'd be surprised if they eat it though so don't worry too much never met a child who will eat anything but the icing!

Thanks, I'm sure you're right actually and he won't eat it anyway after all my efforts and worrying Grin.

I might do a gingerbread house for the dcs actually and then I can feed my cake booze for the adults!

I am lucky enough to have a cake made for me for the past few years , the fruit has been soaked in rum for a week then the cake fed rum every 2 weeks ( about a tablespoon full ) .
I have given small amounts to neighbours dcs with absolutely no ill effects.

As JasBBGG said kids don't generally like fruit cake anyway. What terrible thing do you imagine is going to happen if he ingests a microscopic amount of whisky?

Gripe water used to contain 3.6% alcohol, the same as beer!

I used to make BBC good food’s whisky fruit cake for DD from 6 months. Even fed with tea and whisky there was next to no actual alcohol in it.

@BlackForestCake, I dunno...his head might spin around exorcist style? I definitely accept I'm being OTT. I am becoming one of 'those' mums aren't I?

My DC have always eaten my Christmas with brandy in (they will eat cake in any form). The alcohol has never had any noticeable effect.

Also my cat once ate half an alcohol
Infused Christmas cake that was on the side... she survived! Slept for a while though...!
