Where is my elf?!

Shamelessly posting for traffic.

I need your help!

Our elf on the shelf isn't in his box. I vaguely remember wrapping him a bag on Christmas Day last year and shoving it out of view because he had, of course, gone back to the North Pole.

Now we're a few days off him coming back and the kids are so excited.... yet I have NO idea where he is.

Where would he be? Throw your best elf hiding places at me, please!!!!

I've looked in all of the 'obvious' places, and the thing has totally disappeared 😫

Is he still in the North Pole? December isn't for a week so maybe Father Christmas hasn't sent him back yet.

Lockheart · 24/11/2019 09:13

If you really can't find him can't you just buy a new one? Annoying but if he's a must have tradition then needs must

SleepingIsOverrated · 24/11/2019 09:15

I can, but I'm hoping I don't have to Grin I know I have a week, but this email exactly why I looked early... I just couldn't remember where he was!!!

With the rest of the Christmas stuff?
Bottom of drawers/cupboards?
Down the back of chest of drawers?
Under couchs/beds?
We have a ‘black hole’ cupboard, do you have something similar?

But yes, maybe you’ll open his box in the 30th and he’ll have returned Grin

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 24/11/2019 09:18

On Christmas Day? Oh dear - he’s maybe gone in with the recycling. Unless you have a cupboard in the room where you could have shoved him quickly?

Have you seen the shelf elf had babies now?

TimeIhadaNameChange · 24/11/2019 09:18

On a shelf? Grin

Chocolatecake12 · 24/11/2019 09:18

The kids have cottoned on to it and are in fact hiding from you!
Or as suggested by pp - he’s still at the north pole.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 24/11/2019 09:19

Elf has been redeployed so he won't be coming to your house this year. Father Christmas needs extra help at the North Pole so he's kept elf there.

SleepingIsOverrated · 24/11/2019 09:20

@LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD yes!! The kids would love them, but as I clearly can't be trusted to look after one I'm not sure elf babies are the best idea for my house Grin

Ours was in the drawer that is in the base of my bed, unfortunately he 'revealed himself' during out house move so I had to make up some story about him wanting to know where we had moved to 🙄

Unfortunately he never got put away again, so now I'm waiting on the arrival of his green coated 'brother' who will come to watch us on 1st December, if he ever turns up from ebay China! #fml

KittenLedWeaning · 24/11/2019 09:22

If you put the bag out of sight, is it on top of a high cupboard?

MrsToothyBitch · 24/11/2019 09:22

In elf land, where he belongs?

If he doesn't reappear can he write a letter or something letting your DC know he's gone to visit a DC that needs him & he trusts them to be good?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 24/11/2019 09:23

@ TokyoSushi - you Elf flashed???

pissedoff19 · 24/11/2019 09:37

Mine is chucked at the back of the crap cupboard on the landing. I forgot to tidy him away with all the excitement of Christmasmas and lobbed him in there behind some boxes when the kids weren't looking, the poor bugger has been there all year. Did you do something similar and hide him in a rush?

Could he be in the Xmas tree/decoration box? With the kids stockings? I'd be ordering a back up now so it arrives in time!

Elf babies sound terrifying Grin

SleepingIsOverrated · 24/11/2019 09:41

@pissedoff19 I assumed he was in our junk cupboard, so had muttered something about 'having to hunt for the bloody elf' fully expecting the hint to end there... nope. He's not there. No idea where it's gone 🙈

You’re going to have to get a replacement (if you must have an elf) and say the old one got sent to another family and this is the substitute elf.
