A few weeks ago I went on holiday to Hungary and was met at the border by a seemingly massive seemingly stationary queue to get through passport control. Thankfully, to my considerable relief, I soon discovered the EU side was moving really quickly and I was through after 10 minutes. But along the way I overheard a group of Chinese people, who were about half way up their non-EU passport section moaning how it’d been nearly an hour already and they were barely half way up the queue.(I speak Chinese)... seemed about right as in the 5-10 minutes I’d taken to get through my side, the queue to my right hadn’t moved a single pace.... What fun awaits in a few month!
Now to the subject of the thread: I knew of course that Farage’s wife was German but didn’t know until a mate mentioned this morning in passing during a political debate that his kids recently got German passports. So guess what!? In a few months time, Mr Farage (EU spouse), his two kids (EU citizens) and his wife (EU citizen) will be swanning through queues like that massive one in Budapest and no doubt grabbing all kinds of opportunities through Europe afforded by their rights as EU citizens. While the rest of us and our families will be at the back of the queue. Well, actually, I’ll be applying for dual Irish citizenship in under a year as my family been resident here several years - so it’s not a bitter rant really.... just a very amused one! Farage has got every British family demoted to second class status in their own country, while people like him and his family, of all people!!!, will keep swanning on through (and he never actually denied he’d assumed dual German citizenship himself, did he?). Regardless, you have to laugh!
