To think it’s too early for Christmas decorations?

I know it’s too each their own and if it isn’t harming anyone etc but my neighbours have their Christmas decorations up.. complete with real trees and lights outside.
Isn’t it just a bit too early?

It is to early
Sparklingbrook · 16/11/2019 20:19
Way too early. It's Mid November. But my decorations go up 24/12 so that might be a bit too late.
MulberryPeony · 16/11/2019 20:20
Yes
spanglydangly · 16/11/2019 20:21
YANBU

It's November
I hate to see secs up already. Ridiculous.
NeutralJanet · 16/11/2019 20:22
I'd have mine up now if DH would let me but he won't fetch the stuff from the loft before the start of December (I have a bad back and can't really do carrying boxes up and down the ladder). I want mine down again the day after boxing day though, I love the whole run up to Christmas but once the day itself is over I'm over it and ready for a declutter.

It's too early. Also too early for two miss-spellings of two to too in one post. Sorry. Couldn't help myself.
PinkiOcelot · 16/11/2019 20:49
It’s far too early.
Talkthirtytome · 16/11/2019 20:50
Apologies for the misspellings! One of the downsides of not being able to edit on MN!
ToEarlyForDecorations · 16/11/2019 20:52
Yep.
MockersthefeMANist · 16/11/2019 20:58
NOT before December 1st
We need laws. Including the death penalty for shops who put xmas stuff out in September.
Pinkblueberry · 16/11/2019 20:59
If you want to put them up inside, each to their own. But bright lights outside for what is really everyone else’s benefit? Wait until December.
LagunaBubbles · 16/11/2019 21:01
I never get why some people care about how others decorate their homes and gardens, especially at Christmas. Once my DH can get up the lift, probably next weekend, ours will start to go up. Couldnt care less if some people think it's too early, I like them.
midnightmisssuki · 16/11/2019 21:02
My grandmother is dying so my family put their decorations up early - not sure she’ll make it to Christmas this year but we are hoping as it will be her last one. Hope that’s ok with you.
tillytrotter1 · 16/11/2019 21:08
Man across the road has been erecting his monstrosities this weekend, if I have enough wine I might go over the the wee small hours with shears and cut the cables, not actually connected yet. They're so vulgar, no other house in the village is as bad.
NC4this123 · 16/11/2019 21:10
Why on earth does it both you all so much 🤨 if you don’t want to put them up then don’t. If people chose to then that’s up to them. Can’t see the harm in spreading the magic of Christmas a little longer
LagunaBubbles · 16/11/2019 21:12
And do it begins, the usual snobs on MN moaning abour "vulgar" decorations. Every year without fail.
Talkthirtytome · 16/11/2019 21:12
@midnightmisssuki I’m sorry to hear this. My grandad is also dying of secondary spinal cancer and it’s likely to be his last too, but he has always hated Christmas since my grandmother died a week before Christmas in 1998 so luckily we don’t feel that pressure.
User1223422 · 16/11/2019 21:14
I LOVE IT! Don’t really care about Xmas that much to be honest but I love seeing everyone’s twinkly light decorations outside putting a bit of magic about in the world. The sooner the better!
SmallPinkBear · 16/11/2019 21:15
Definitely too early
Mid December for me (I love them but hate the clutter and loss of space oh and the needles, I can’t stand picking up the needles!)
fruitpastille · 16/11/2019 21:16
It makes it less special if it's christmassy for weeks on end. Although I must admit a few naice fairy lights make dark evenings less gloomy so I don't mind those.
PixieDustt · 16/11/2019 21:18
Why does it bother everyone so much? Get a grip doesn't effect your life in the slightest.
Talkthirtytome · 16/11/2019 21:19
@fruitpastille at the tearoom I work in (and on my stairs actually) we have white fairy lights up all year round and they are cosy especially when the dark nights kick in.
Excited101 · 16/11/2019 21:19
The first of December used to be seen as too early for the average person, it’s seen as a bit late these days- it’s ridiculous! Imo it’s ruining Christmas spirit for people, having it so OTT from so early on in the year like that.
Excited101 · 16/11/2019 21:19
Fairy lights for the whole of winter are totally acceptable though
