To try and fit in another job?

So I have a part time job, it’s 3 days one week and 2 the second week. I get paid for 12.5 hours (not paid for breaks) and receive 1400 per month .I can’t do any more hours at that job but should I (would you) get another job (something min wage) for the other days. Dc are in school until 2.30 so if I could do something within that time frame it might be helpful. I don’t NEED to as such, I just feel like maybe I could do more??!! or would it be hard to find something accommodating for those hours??

What do you do that you get paid £1400 for 10 days' work a month?

EleanorReally · 16/11/2019 10:40

you seem well paid,
i cant see why it would be worth it, you may lose it all on tax?
so you want to work term time only?
or can you volunteer in the school?
would the school offer a paid one day week job?

apacketofcrisps · 16/11/2019 10:45

Bloody hell I don’t get that working 40 hours a week

Parttimers · 16/11/2019 10:49

I would rather not say my job as could be outing, yes I would only want term time. @EleanorReally yes the tax element would kind of put me off...maybe more hassle than it’s worth?! Volunteering would be nice actually! 🤔

Goodness that's a good rate.

£1400 x 12 mths = annual £16,800

I used to work 3 days, then it got cut down to 2. So, I took another job for 2 days. 4 days. Perfect.

Good work if you can get it! Especially at your hourly rate.

EleanorReally · 16/11/2019 11:00

i have done temping work for odd days, preferably one day op.admin.
great - did it for years, it is hard to find anywhere that will accept just one day but i managed.
otherwise volunteer - sounds a good plan

Parttimers · 16/11/2019 11:01

@Oblomov19 yes it’s a great job at great pay! But I won’t get that at another job unfortunately.

I don’t think it is so unusual to get £140 a day at all 😳

Parttimers · 16/11/2019 11:21

@Autumntoowet yes it’s not unusual in my line of work, although I know compared to a lot of jobs it’s great pay. Considering I am home for half3/4oclock on work days it’s fantastic.

@Parttimers Christ what is the job, I bet about £1550 and work 37 hours a week...going wrong somewhere Shock

pigsinarow · 10/12/2019 22:27

Why do people think when you increase your income you ‘will lose it all on tax’ - that’s not how it works. And OP wouldn’t be nearing the higher tax rate at that level of income anyway. Missing the point of the OP I know.
