Arrrgghh I just realized there’s 2 more paydays until Christmas (I get paid fortnightly) and I only have two gifts so far (dc’s main gifts thank god) but that’s it!
how many do you have left?! And have you started your Christmas shopping?

One
Yes
I only have 6 people to buy for

Inebriati · 15/11/2019 15:45

We only buy nice food for the three holiday days because that's what we can afford.

Reachedsohigh · 15/11/2019 15:45

2 more (monthly pay- paid early in December) I haven't bought anything yet

Parttimers · 15/11/2019 15:47

@Reachedsohigh yes now you have me thinking I might get my 2nd pay in dec early as I’m due to get paid the day after Christmas...🤔

I save 1/12th the cost of Christmas every month of the year. So whilst I haven’t bought much, the money is waiting for me to do so. I highly recommend it - much less stressful!

Spied · 15/11/2019 15:51

1 left.
I've got almost everythingSmile

MysweetAudrina · 15/11/2019 15:52

I save all year round as there is no way I could afford Christmas out of one or two paychecks. 20e a week gives me 1000 and dh does the same.

BlackCatSleeping · 15/11/2019 15:52

I haven’t even started. I get paid monthly, so I’m hoping to pick up some Black Friday bargains this month.

Livebythecoast · 15/11/2019 15:53

No presents yet but hitting Bluewater 9th December Grin

adaline · 15/11/2019 15:55

Two more, end of this month and then on December 19th.

I only have three people to buy presents for and haven't even started thinking about it yet!

Parttimers · 15/11/2019 15:56

Oh I am not stressed! I just realized how close Christmas is and how little I have done. My dh gets paid monthly so he has one pay on the way too and possibly dec pay early. I only work part time 12.5 hours per week. It’s not our main income. Each pay day is 700 so I pay for most of the Christmas gifts. Just need to work out a list of gifts left to buy. We only need dinner for Christmas Day really as we go to family the day after. Obvs will bring wine and chocs.

One left. I started yesterday with some small gifts. DS doesn’t know what he wants yet. His only request is maybe three times what I can afford Sad

But I’ve done my food list and have a few ideas...

Marmite27 · 15/11/2019 15:58

Two. My children are sorted. Need something else for my niece (an outfit probably). My parents, their dog, DH & my uncle who has no one else and always buys for my dc.

Problem is I keep seeing things the dc would love. Happens every year Blush

Oysterbabe · 15/11/2019 15:59

We've bought everything bar a few bits and bobs. Both my kids have birthdays in December too.

Parttimers · 15/11/2019 16:01

You are all so organised!! Blush

JusticeForSandra · 15/11/2019 16:02

I get paid (very) early in December, so I make sure everything is booked, bought and paid before that December pay-date - Christmas bonus pay for Easter holiday and the clubs January costs, and and December pay is used for the sales but mainly January, it's a long month!

I know sounds a bit ridiculous, but there can be around 6 weeks between December and January pay-days some years, so I need the money.

Pa55thegin · 15/11/2019 16:06

Hi! Yes and I've finished xmas shopping! Yay! Get paid weekly, been chipping away at gifts and yummy snacks for the cupboard since September. Been out today and got some new decorations so I can't wait to get the tree up now! X

gamerchick · 15/11/2019 16:09

1 left for both me and husband. We're nearly done though. I last push in a couple of weeks to finish and determined not to get the twitch this year, which is why I spread it out. Relentless feeling that one Grin

WagtailRobin · 15/11/2019 16:20

I save all year for Christmas, my mum does the same. I then do all of her gift shopping for her as she has mobility issues and then I do mine.

My mum buys for 30 people (I buy for 33), and if we didn't save from January and start Christmas shopping early, we simply wouldn't be able to afford it.

We are basically finished now, really only the big food shop a few days before Christmas Eve, some more treat stuff from M&S and batteries to buy.

Waiting on two more deliveries, and 3 orders to be collected but that's us done. Everything has been bought including all of the alcohol and now we can relax and look forward to Christmas.

Happy Christmas everyone!

JusticeForSandra · 15/11/2019 16:26

that sounds like ... a lot ,and a lot more than you can afford.
It's generous, but how do you manage to take holidays and treat yourself if you have to save all year for other people?

DarlingCoffee · 15/11/2019 16:32

I’ve done all mine but we haven’t got our food sorted completely yet. There are some great sales on at the moment and Black Friday is still to come. I wouldn’t panic.

bridgetreilly · 15/11/2019 16:38

I'd be very surprised if it's only 2 fortnightly paydays. Generally if you would normally be paid on a day that is a bank holiday or a weekend, you get paid the last working day before that. I'm expecting to be paid next Friday and on Monday 23rd, and if I were paid fortnightly, there'd be another one between.

MuchTooTired · 15/11/2019 16:44

We save £100 a month for Christmas. We’ve bought most of the presents for our DTs, mainly agreed what food we’re buying (have yet to place the order!) and have started thinking about what to get our families present wise. I’m feeling 100x more organised than every other year of my adult life - I’ve always been a Christmas Eve shopping kinda girl!

Rose789 · 15/11/2019 16:48

One! The last 12 years I’ve worked at my place December’s pay has always been brought forward to a few days before Christmas which is used for the Christmas food shop. This year we’re getting paid on the last working day. Only found out this morning.
Most presents have been bought (and wrapped and stored in the loft) I just need a few stocking fillers and sweets.

IdentifyasTired · 15/11/2019 16:48

8 to buy for here. I have started but still a lot to buy and do. This time last year I’d started wrapping things up.
But I am trying to be more relaxed this year and not get so hung up about it all. The day will come and go regardless.
