Black Friday deals

Hi, posting for traffic really (sorry ) but wanted to ask about Black Friday deals. I've never done any shopping on this day before but this year dd wants something from John Lewis and I'm wondering if they usually have good desks on? I've done most of my Christmas shopping already but am happy to wait for this one gift just in case. What kind of things are normally on offer and are the discounts good?

This month's Which? magazine tracked the price of 82 home, tech and beauty products advertised as Black Friday deals across Amazon, Curry's PC World and John Lewis, for six months before and after the event. (Last year's).

They state:
"An astonishing 95% were cheaper or the same price as the Black Friday deal price in the six months after.
Of course some products may fall in price over time , but we also found 61% were cheaper or the same price on at least one day in the six months before the sale".

Their conclusion was "If you are thinking of shopping in the Black Friday sales you might be better off waIting until all the hype has died down".

I thought black Friday was last week?

I have set price alerts on Amazon as fire tablets are always cheapest on Black Friday. Amazon starts their deals on the 22nd. Black Friday is the 29th.
