to be hacked off with mates who cancel because they've been putting a blind up?

Very old friends - used to see them loads, but they have been quite distant since we had kids. Have recently seen a lot more of them as we supported them through a very difficult time (ongoing).

Got a phone call 20 mins before they were meant to be here saying they'd been putting a blind up all day & were too tired to come over.

Part of me says that that's the sort of thing you're allowed to do with old mates. PArt of me thinks that we would never be so rude as to cancel on that sort of a pretext.

(we've been up since 5.15 with the dcs - would not have cancelled)

So, am I?

no not unreasonable - at least give a decent excuse or tell the thruth, can't be bothered to come out in the rin thast the sort of thing you can say to old friends and laugh about.
but because they put a blind up!!!! what is it the worlds biggest and most complicate dblind? dh puts blinds up in about ten minutes flat!

Sheherazadethegoat · 19/08/2007 19:10

pmsl - either they are seriously feeble or they are really rude.

harpsichordcarrier · 19/08/2007 19:11

I take it they don't have children??
yes they are either being feeble or they are absolutely not worth worrying about

chocolatemummy · 19/08/2007 19:11

I hate this, I never cancel unless really have to one because its rude and two because its a nightmare if you are expecting to see people you make plans around that so to not turn up is letting them down and stopping them doing something else. it really annoys me I have a couple of friends who are really bad at this and have just gradually stopped bothering now and concentrate on those who i know if we have an arangement then it will happen

Sheherazadethegoat · 19/08/2007 19:12

or probably they feel out during the arduous diy task and are too busy ostentasiously avoiding each other.

LazyLineLegilimens · 19/08/2007 19:12

We have friends like this. It is pathetic.
