To ask you how to clean my rug?!

I'm no Mrs Hinch and I need advice on cleaning my big shaggy rug!

Went away and had my sister house sit for a few nights we rolled our rug up as she was bringing her dog which was fine.

For some reason the rug ended up back down and it smells badly of dog and could have probably done with a good clean before we went away. Sister also appologiesd that said dog had an accident on the rug and she'd given it a good scrub and rub with disinfectant as soon as she saw!
It's not a huge issue if I can get it smelling ok again it's just that our kids sit on the rug daily.

Soo what can I use/how can I give a big deep shaggy rug a good deep clean? And advice would be welcome!

Can you take it to a dry cleaners? Even if they aren't able to clean it they may have some good suggestions.
Otherwise I often see bicarbonate of soda suggested on here, scatter it all over the rug then hoover up.

Simple solution is really good for neutralising pet mess smells PLUS good when kids are ill and puke on stuff too! So will get more use out of it aswell x

You need an enzyme spray. It eats the bacteria that cause the smell. All pet shops will sell one.

The pet urine spray is available in Wilko. It was on special offer at the weekend at my local one.
White vinegar spray might work.
Bicarb probably cheaper in Pound stretchers or somewhere but cheap anyway.

Pet enzyme spray and a good rug brush, or I find a good vacuum with a Henry really fluffs it back up. Also a bit of zoflora in a spray bottle helps loads

For stains on carpets or rugs, washing up liquid is super with hot water.
