So car alarm going off since 9pm. I have been trying to sleep since 10pm. Finally gave up and rang the Council at 11pm but didn't leave my number as didn't want them to do their usual trick of ringing me back with an update an hour later by which time I was dearly hoping I would be asleep.

Car alarm still going off at 12.30am so call the council again who say they won't take action unless I leave my phone number so have had to leave my phone number and am now wide awake and on mumsnet while I wait

a) for the car alarm to stop and
b) for the effing council to ring me (which could be in about an hour they say...)

Try explaining that I really don't want them to call me. Just want them to deal with the noise so I can go to sleep.

Furious. Baby ill, me ill. Fed up. Effing people with effing car alarms.

forget the council call teh police

j20baby · 19/08/2007 00:38

do you know who the owner of the car is?
maybe give them a nice early wake up call every day for a week?

margoandjerry · 19/08/2007 00:42

Don't know. Can't even see the car from my flat (weirdly, I can't even see the street from my flat). Makes it sound like I live in the clouds...

Tried calling the police and got through to an answerphone...

Live in Central London so some noise is par for the course but not normally noise from the council's sodding noise team.

That's awful. Must admit, I would be tempted to put a brick through it ( I wouldn't of course).

car alarm finally gone off of its own accord. Now I have to wait for the council to call me or I'll go off to bed and they'll ring and wake me up

Boredveryverybored · 19/08/2007 01:19

I'd unplug the phone and go to bed

margoandjerry · 19/08/2007 01:22

just rang them again and told them not to ring me!

Honestly, such pointless bureaucracy and uselessness.

I think the battery on the car alarm finally wore out. Now I need the battery on my fury to wear out so I can go to sleep.
