...the mini pill (cerazette) on top of the implant to control bleeding?

Sorry - posted for traffic! I’ve struggled with almost constant bleeding on the implant and it’s getting me down. Saw a new GP today who recommended taking Cerazette (mini/pop) as well as the implant for a little while to see if it helps.

I had never heard of this being a method before. Has this worked for anyone? I’ll give it a go but I am interested to hear experiences as I know many people struggle with bleeding on the implant. I can’t take the combined pill due to migraines.

So if yes, did it work for you and did you get any additional side effects?

I was put on the mini pill to control bleeding but am not using the implant. Drs were keen for me to try the coil but I wasn’t keen. I asked to try this first. It’s fabulous. I no longer have periods. No side effects either.

@scarlett thanks - have you had any side effects with it as I often see people talk about weight gain on here so I’m worried with that and the implant it could be even worse?

@Scarlettpixie sorry I clearly didn’t read your post properly!! Good to hear you don’t have any side effects!

It’s definitely a “thing” - I was offered this when I first switched to the the contraceptive injection as I bled for 3 months straight.

Unfortunately I can’t be of much use as I declined and just took trans acid instead on heavier days. Personally I hated the pill and did really want to go back to a form of the pill, also my next depo injection helped to ease the bleeding and I essentially had normal periods for a few months until they completely stopped.

Doesitwork45 · 08/11/2019 19:23

@Lhastingsmua how have you found trans acid as that was the other option?

OP posts:
Anxietyandwine · 08/11/2019 19:33

I took it along side being on the injection which had me bleeding endlessly. The pill stopped the bleeding but I was quite hormonal on both Blush

Lhastingsmua · 08/11/2019 19:34

Ah sorry, my previous post should have said did not want to go back on the pill!

It worked very well to be honest - absolutely no side effects (unlike the pill) and made the bleeding much more manageable. In fact it was so useful that I was really tempted to use it on days where the bleeding was light, just to get it to stop! (Obv don’t do that thoughGrin)

Doesitwork45 · 08/11/2019 19:43

@Lhastingsmua were you told to only take it for a short time?

OP posts:
Doesitwork45 · 08/11/2019 19:44

@Anxietyandwine I think the implant already makes me hormonal Blush how long did you use both for?

nedtherobbot · 08/11/2019 19:48

I took for 3 months to ease beading when my second coil didn't settle in well. Worked really well, no obvious side effects for me.

Doesitwork45 · 08/11/2019 20:05

@ned good to know Smile

Anxietyandwine · 08/11/2019 20:07

@Doesitwork45 I think around 6-9 months I was on both together. The bleeding stopped after being on the pill a month or two and (eventually I needed a laparoscopy to laser some tissue away as a more permanent fix, think there was more going on that just hormones and the injection started it off somehow).

Doesitwork45 · 08/11/2019 20:09

@Anxietyandwine thanks for sharing and sorry to hear you had to go through that too! Did that help though?

Foslady · 08/11/2019 20:10

Peri menopausal, minera coil didn’t stop bleeding so was given mini pill also (couldn’t take trans acid as it gave me cluster headaches).
Ended up having an abalation....,,

RobinHumphries · 08/11/2019 20:14

I have. I ended up having my implant out at under a year as my periods never settled

Lhastingsmua · 08/11/2019 20:24

No time restrictions - I was told to take it whenever I needed it (only when necessary ie heavy flow.)

Doesitwork45 · 08/11/2019 20:33

@RobinHumphries what did you change to if you don’t mind me asking, if anything?

OP posts:
RobinHumphries · 08/11/2019 21:44

I stopped taking anything as my relationship had finished and I was uncomfortable at the thought of being double dosed with hormones

Anxietyandwine · 08/11/2019 22:04

It was very minor surgery, just day surgery in fact. That actually fixed everything although the bleeding had stopped due to the pill every time I stopped the pill the bleeding restarted. After that it stopped completely, was never given a real reason. Hope you find a workable solution! I haven’t gone back on normal contraception since actually
