Ive spent hours trying to get round this and I couldnt log in so tried to register under the name Helena Dave using the same e mail address you already have and it took it The only option the screen would give me was to REGISTER, Then i tried to delete this action hoping it wont wipe out my whole original account. Because i want access to my 8 year old account history and watchlist I dont want the register as a newbie option but thats the only option i was getting. Ive also had problems posting prior to this. I dont want my original account deleted Just the Helena DAve thing. that i did. I usually stay logged in but had to use a dfferent device hence this ridiculousness. So you might have already noticed strange activity coming from this e mail address Well THIS is why. Ive had no problem with fb and Twitter on this other device. Can you sort this please. Thank You

This is the e mail i sent to MN.

i received an e mail today saying it ought to be impossible to register as a newbie using the same e mail account MN are asking me to log out fully on all devices and then log back in.

THE OPTION TO DO THIS (log in) ISNT THERE THOUGH. thats the point im trying to make, I didnt post anything under the new account name. If i attempt to log out the only option that comes up is to register as a newbie. This problem isnt present on any other site that i use.

I googled mn log in and there are problems going back years. So im too worried about logging out on this old device as this is the only way i can get in at all.

I had the same problem too. Had to register as a newbie
Didn't want to as I had a history with people and PM ing them.

Also , anyone know how I can stop them sending email alerts every time I even read a thread ?!

I was struggling to login on a new device recently - kept rerouting me to the register page. Turns out I had originally signed up with whatever @ googlemail dot com email and was trying to sign in with whatever @ gmail dot com email, which the system didn’t recognise. Could it be something like that?

@Stillfunny re email notifications - see image. Go to Threads I'm Watching

i was using a laptop web browser, Chrome. As this laptop was doing shedloads of updates. I really really wish i hadnt bothered. I do not feel confident logging out completely on every device then trying to log in again. When the option to log in isnt even there. I have to go out now so will be back later.

Depending on what device i have to use and MN permitting.

Both laptop web browsers are Google Chrome.

Yep I’ve had this issue too @MNHQ help!

HelenaDove · 07/11/2019 21:14

This is obviously a site issue so shouldnt the tech team dealing with it be the first option instead of asking me to log out of every device ive ever used Mumsnet on and then log in on just one device using my email address.

THE LOG IN OPTION ISNT THERE.

Also i NEVER use MN on multiple devices. Its one device .....a laptop,. When one laptop reaches the end of its life. THEN i use another one. So i cant log out of MN via every device ive ever used because the previous older ones are long gone Ive been on here for eight years.

To try to get to the bottom of this, could we please ask you to fully log out of the site on any devices on which you may have (ever!) used Mumsnet, and then log in on just one device (using your email address

Confused

InOtterNews Thanks for that ! But my info looked different. Read " I'm watching ". Then I had a list. Chose Customize. So hopefully it will stop.
